It's annoying as they've always used cardboard boxes previously. It's weird, companies go forwards (like Play.com), while others simultaneously go backwards (HMV).

Thankfully it wasn't damaged, but it's such a hassle if there's a ding in it!

Seems pricey, but it does have both 3D AND 2D (as well as the digital). So isn't too bad really. I've ordered one anyway.

But as did the Immortals. 3D, 2D and Digital Copy and it was £17.99 on release.

I know I've got a bit of a bee in my bonnet about Steelbooks at the moment (it seems harder to find the Amaray release nowadays of some titles!) but I think it's quite an unreasonable price which I think will set a precedent - certainly to HMV - that Steelbook collectors will happily part for more £'s for a big release title.

Play put Ghost Protocol on for £17.99 on pre-release, raised it to £20.99 on release and when they found some more recently put the price up to £24.99 when they knew people would hoover up the excess stock. I appreciate that they are the licensees and can charge what they want - but Asda had Avengers 3D Triple-Play for £9 pre-release yesterday (obviously as a loss-leader and albeit non-Steelbook) - so 3D, 2D and Digital together can be at least reasonably priced.

Rant over

Except when you consider it's a £10 premium over the same non-steelbook release via Sainsbury's.

Steelbook all the way for Prometheus. Otherwise I'm not sure I could look at myself in a mirror.

"Only" two new releases announced today

The sublime:

Passion of Joan of Arc

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0019254/

The ridiculous:

Rise of the Foot-soldier

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0901507/

I think with the latter we have reached the Steelbook nadir!

For anyone interested, apparently the reason for HMV orders being delayed and then arriving in Jiffy Bags instead of cardboard boxes is due to them moving warehouse. Because of the tax loophole being closed, they are moving their business back to the UK now and this is causing the disruption.

They're also using TNT instead of Royal Mail during this time, and this is delaying orders arriving by at least 2 days if not more. They say the move will be sorted out by the end of July and they will go back to using cardboard boxes instead of Jiffy Bags again. Hopefully this also means they'll go back to using Royal Mail instead of TNT as well.

I'm still waiting on my Total Recall Steelbook Blu-Ray to arrive which was sent last Wednesday and would normally have arrived last Friday or Saturday. Hopefully when I get it, it won't be dented due to the Jiffy Bag!

Thanks, that explains a lot. My Batman Steel didn't arrive at all, yet the replacement (posted Friday) arrived yesterday, whilst I'm still waiting on my Total Recall from last Wednesday.

Absolutely. A standard case would look embarrassing next to the Quad-Steelbook.
