Yeah he's in really good shape in KOTCS; he's able to swing on his whip and land ass first in the front of a moving truck... smashing the windows and caving the front of the steel cab in.... all without a scratch! My buns aren't that well toned.

Speaking strictly for myself, you are 100% correct.

Ford was the best thing about Crystal Skull, he looked fantastic for his age. My biggest apprehension about the film was that he couldn't pull it off....

He's excellent in it. The problem is that, whilst the other films ARE ensemble pieces, they focus on Indy. Here, aside from the opening scene, most of the set pieces are ensemble set pieces, which detracts. Now, I accept that was, to an extent, true of the other films. But it works much better there

Well I tried to watch Doom last night, but had to give up after about 40 minutes, I'm not saying it's bad, I just don't like it. I will say KOTCS is bad, in fact it's god awful. Ford was in good nick, so why cast the terminally annoying Shia LaBeouf? I'm NOT going to buy a box with those two films.

I have to admit that I was finding it a bit tedious to watch (doom) which surprised me as I've loved the first 3 forever.

First time I've watched ToD yesterday on BBC HD and thought it was entertaining fodder.

Watched Doom last night, and despite it being the cut version I still enjoyed it as much as ever. I think if you stop liking a movie, it's more about you than the film tbh.

Temple is madder than a box of frogs, and the use of critters and daft escapes is no more offensive than in Crystal Skull IMO, but it's a thrilling rollercoaster ride of a movie that rarely lets up. You just don't get a chance to reflect on the bat**** insanity of it all.

Half agree with you here. My trouble with Doom is that (for me anyway) it DOES let up and suffers for it.

It has is a fantastic opening 15mins
There is than a bit of intrigue finding out about the stones, children, etc

All good so far, but then we come to the middle third of the film, and its this that drags it down for me. The traveling to the temple is there as a character piece for us to get to know and learn more Indy's traveling companions. The trouble for me is that I grow to find them some of the most irritating hero sidekicks.

It does manage to kick off again in the final third and throws a lot at us (yes it jumps around a bit, but its such a good action packed final you just go with it), but that middle third is still in my mind and stops it being a great film.

I know a lot of people rave about this Indy film, but for me its let down in certain areas and have to say its my 4th favorite (yes, below Skull for me) Indy film for me.

The only thing I hate about Temple of Doom is Kate *********** Capshaw. I love the rest of it, even though it's even sillier than KOTCS (it helps by being more entertaining).

This is how I see Kingdom of the Crystal Skull to be honest. Temple of Doom is bloody awful if you analyise it to death but if you just enjoy the good bits and ignore the bad bits then yep, by the process of that logic it's a gilm (not your logic, my logic in this post btw)

Have to agree. Im not a massive Indy fan and always thought Last Crusade was the weakest, but upon a recent rewatch of all four I think Temple is terrible!

gilm?

I have next to no expectation for films today unless it's hyped up by the media or from a favourite director (Johnnie To, Tarantino, Scorcese, Almodóvar to name a few) so I guess I kinda do just ignore all the bad bits.

Last time I saw the trilogy I ended up enjoying ToD more than crusade. Crusade to me just feels like a less-good rehash of Raiders, whereas ToD does something a bit different and just seems more fun.
Oh well each to their own!

I see Amazon France are selling a special metal case box set of this, works out about £45 including postage. Not sure if it's a Steelbook or more like the Band of Brothers / Pacific metal cases. I quite like it, as long as all the text is in English of course It might just have the standard UK digipak inside the case though.
