Silversun Pickups - Neck of the Woods

New Silversun Pickups album is out on general release next week but you can have a preview here http://www.nme.com/news/silversun-pickups/63603

Loving it so far, great addition to the rest of their stuff.. six tracks in and I don't think there's been a duff one yet.

Absolutely adore their first two albums. The first tracks on this new one have not impressed me on first listen. Let's see if it's a grower.

Well it's not Carnavas but it's OK. It seems to be missing genuine stand out tracks. I think Mean Spirits will be a single as that is a good track but the only other one to get my attention was The Pit which had a slightly odd production value to it with the 'electro' bass line in the first half of the song.
Still, I'll buy it and stick it in the car and see how it grows. Thanks to the OP for heads up as Silversun Pickups albums don't come around that often!

Yeah I've been listening to it more and it weird, I've found it more immediate this time around but it doesn't have that 'big' sound that I would associate with silversun pickups. Still enjoying it though.

Also if you haven't checked out their EP Pikul make sure you do

The band have a singles collection coming out in Feburary, and it also includes this new song as a single. It's rather fantastic (more melodic, closer in style to their first 2 albums rather than Neck of the Woods it seems to me).

First new song. Really like it.
Takes a while to get to it, they've surrounded it by a short film.

Their fifth album called Widow's Weeds has just been released. First impression for me is that it's the best thing they've released since the Carnavas/Swoon days. The whole album is clicking for me, as opposed to their past couple on which I only really loved a few tracks. I'd say it's leaning a bit more into acoustic than what they've done before too.
