You're changing the language of your player rather than just selecting the language/audio from the disc menu, right?

you changed the language of the dvd film menu's, not the film or any other language settings, right?

I changed the language setting on the PS3 - there isn't a menu to change the languages on the disc prior to loading the main menu.

I've got this on order but will be ripping it to my server once it arrives so I'll be able to work out which title it is that is the uncut version.

Would that make it easier for people to watch that version?

That's exactly what I've tried to tell you all that I've been doing - tried 5 different langauges inc French, German & Dutch & it just doesn't work (for me anyway).

Easiest thing to do is just get rid of it & get the USA version even if it has a scene missing.

You don't change your default language in the system settings option but rather go to video settings and then change BD Menu Language to anything bar English. Do that and you can watch Conan in all it's uncut goodness.

Just want to confirm that people have managed to get this to work uncut on a PS3.

Interesting to see how the BBFC take this sidestepping, could be a massive boost for cult films on DVD.

Well I would've technically it's illegal, but yes, will be interesting to see how they confront it.

I've just received the recently released French steelbook of Conans Barbaric and Destructive and I'm very pleased with it. At the mo, I'd say it's the best version of Barbarian out there:

- it has the corrected soundtrack and image (Conan and the dogs at dusk)
- it has been mastered so you can use the workaround to get it to play uncut
- it has the original English mono (at least, it sounds like it and not a downmix)

Was about £18 delivered (there was some offer at Amazon.fr as well that if you bought something else from a range of boxsets you got ten Euros off, but there was nothing else there that interested me).

Now, if I could only persuade someone to burn me the 1080p fan version of the theatrical cut...

Great, now I'll have to try and sell my French double-pack so I can get the corrected one.

What's the quality of the redone 5.1 audio like though? I seem to remember reading something about the redone sound on the UK version sounding very tinny and compressed.

It sounds okay, nothing amazing. I'm probably not being critical because a) I was so grateful to get the chorus back and b) the hearing in my left ear is pretty ****** these days.
