Killing Me Softly (with Brad Pitt)

I watched 20 minutes of Killing Me Softly last night, it was so very good I'm saving the rest for tonight. It comes across as the kind of thing Tarantino could write if he ever grows up and steps outside of his movie-geek head stuffed with references to 70s trash movies. Killing Me Softly looks like the dust bowl America of indie films we don't usually get to see in a major Hollywood production. Low-lives rob cash from a roomful of hard-core card-players and the entire 20 minutes I saw is drenched in uneasy tension. The Blu-Ray PQ is spectacularly grubby.

That guy who played the imprisoned sick mob boss in Sopranos puts on a class act in the opening scenes as a low-life fence. Director Andrew Dominick is certainly someone to keep an eye on because this movie looks even better than his highly regarded Brad Pitt Jesse James film.

Brad Pitt hasn't turned up in it yet and I was kind of not looking forward to when he does because the non-celebs in the movie so far have been giving hugely impressive performances and he might cramp their style.

How very random of you.

When you get round to watching the rest of it, here's the appropriate thread, in the appropriate forum:
