Why is that an issue? It's a fabulous release. Each film's got like a dozen commentaries, 460 hours of bonus features and the presentation on each is stellar.

I know I'm in a minority in thinking this, but I felt the green tint looked wrong and was possibly an error.

This is backed up when you compare Boromir's flashback scenes in RoTK from FoTR - the green tint is missing. If it was meant to be there then why not copy the green tint into the flash back scenes for RoTK?

I agree with these comments from the Blu-Ray forum (2 are good things, 1 is an error):

Quote:
I personally think that there are three completely different things going on in the FotR EE:

1) A new tranfer that has added detail, clarity, and depth, and looks great.

2) New scene specific color timing changes that were made by Peter Jackson and Andrew Lesnie.

3) An overall green tint/contrast problem that was some kind of error and has been swept under the rug.
Here you can see some corrected screens from FoTR, as well as comparisons of the flash back scenes in RoTK:

Forgot about that. I didn't even notice the green tint when I watched it, but I remember people complaining about it when the first reviews popped up....

I'm sure if I played FoTR to a few of my friends without mentioning the green tint, then none would notice.

It was noticeable to me and it stood out more because I watched all the films back-to-back... well, 3 films over 6 nights.

The colour pallet didn't match that of TT or RoTK. The latter two looked a lot nicer and more natural... i.e. no green tint to everything.

If it never gets resolved then I'm sure I'll end up buying the films again, I sold them after my first viewing. It will probably be some time before I feel the need to the stick them on again anyway... probably after The Hobbit films.

The director deciding to muck up the picture is a big issue with me. All the other stuff is just stuff you get with the film, the film is the thing. I just can't remember people coming out of the cinema saying, great movie, but it wasn't green or dark enough for me.
