Question Is Planet Earth coming onto HD-DVD?

Having watched this on BBC, and I believe it was originally shown on the BBC-HD channel? Any news on this boxset coming onto HD-DVD format?

DVD only for the moment. The BBC haven't said what HD format they'll be supporting.

Indeed, 2 Entertain who release BBC stuff in the UK have given their support for HD-DVD. I've heard a rumour that Planet Earth will be one of their first HD-DVD, split over several HD-DVD discs as I believe they will be encoding in full 1080 (I don't know if that will be i or p encoding).

The other rumour I heard is that we may be hearing an announcement about 2 Entertains HD plans in roughly 3 months.

DVD Review says it will be released on High Definition in 2007.

The main reason I haven't ordered the DVD version despite the rave reviews - totally fed up of double-dipping.

I don't think that really applies. Planet Earth will be using multiple discs unless compression artefacts will abound.
