Thumbs down Resident Evil - VERY, VERY POOR!!

I watched Resident Evil over the weekend, and boy what a stinker of a movie it is. It rips off loads of films including Cube and The Matrix to name a couple, and the plot is virtually non-existant. The Zombies don't appear for ages, and when they do they lack any real menace at all. Milla Jovavich is barely watchable, she has a glazed "What the fudge am I doing here?" expression throughout.

The films worst crime is that it is boring, interminably dull.

Not recommended, not even in the slightest

Yeah, you can't really review a film based on a dodgy pirate copy you download off the Internet.

Oh, I beg to differ. A film that has the pedigree of Paul Anderson, and the bland visual stylings of Resident Evil, probably only deserves to be seen as such.

The narrative is what counts, and R.E. just doesn't have any. Even on a restricted format something would come across, and believe me, it doesn't.

People post reviews of films that they have watched on 14" portable t.v.'s using cheap dvd players, does that make them any less relevant?

I'm not condoning watching films like I did, or trying to excuse my actions. It was my choice to watch the film this way, as it would have not been a film I would have seen at the cinema anyway.

Mr Stanton thought it was an O.K beer and curry film.

Wasn't expecting great art didn't get great art. But it past the time in an undermanding way.

Ah bugger, I was looking forward to this film since I love the games. Disappointing to hear that Zombies don't appear for a while, especially since they're not a menace...

Ah well, there you goes to prove Hollywood is running out of ideas very fast... Stick to European films like Das Experiment!

Agreed. I saw this a few weeks back and it really is poor. There is no tension or excitement, the characters are so underdeveloped to the point that all the males are practically interchangeable.

But that could be forgiven if there was some fun zombie-munching except there is hardly any gore (and I'm not a gore hound but its pretty much a prerequisite for this type of film!), the best "horror" scene IMHO doesnt even involve zombies!!

Apart from the Umbrella corp. there is hardly any really links to the game - dont expect to see this film and be just as scared as you you were playing the game!

Save your money!!!

Well this is the first thread were Ive seen people not enjoy the film...IMO it was good, it could have done with a lot more action BUT Jovavich was fantastic as the leading role (or maybe I was just distracted by her lack of clothes) the film does well to stick to the Game plot and not turn out rubbish like Streetfighter...also the ending is left open for a Sequel I just hope its got more action in it!

BTW how many times did you spot the microphone come into shot?? I seen at least 7 and one trailed half way down the picture

Sony did apparantley Green Light the sequel but I would think considering it's huge takings drop-off after opening, and with word-of-mouth-comment not being good, certainly not on here, that would appear more and more less likely every day.

This thread is a complete contrast to the one I started a while back here - http://www.thedvdforums.com/forums/s...threadid=64468

My opinion is already perfectly clear so I wont bother going over it again, but I will say anyone going to see RE expecting Dawn of the Dead deserve's to come away feeling they've wasted their Ł6 for the ticket !.
(or in this case, waste their time downloading).

What type of opinion do you expect from a walking dictionary who thought Ring was crap.

So it didn't have enough action and the filmakers were a bunch of imbeciles and you still liked it?

You must be easy to please.
