More of the same which is fine, exactly what I wanted.

But they did seem a bit smugger than normal, and the some of the studio bits were excruciating, but hopefully that'll get better as the series goes on.

Excellent! Brilliant!!
Very entertaining.

Not surprised to be honest.

Team Clarkson have proved their brilliance by the YouTube clip of Clarkson cocking about with a cardboard box.

They would have been as well just not bothering doing a review of it and burying their heads in the sand and pretending The Grand Tour didn't exist.

That's quite bitter. He seems to really not like Clarkson. The whole thing about Clarkson and May not liking each other is ******. May was the first to come out and say he liked working with clarkson and he was first to reject the Beeb and TG.

I'm surprised the BBC even ran a review. There's no viewing figures being released. It's got a guaranteed 36 episodes so it's going to be there up against the crappy new version of TG. They should have just buried their heads on this one.

Guaranteed 36 episodes? That's the first I heard that, fantastic news.

Can't see how the beeb still have the hump, May and Hammond were on the One show this week promoting the show.

Just watching it now. I never really watched much TG just caught up with a bit on netflix. Always thought the studio stuff was often scripted rubbish.
The road trips were great tho.

But I like the three of them so I'll give this a go.

I watched it in 4K and it's one of the best looking shows I've ever seen. As others have said, it's more of the same, but that's more than ok with me.

Great stuff

Anyone else notice at the start making a deliberate reference to them all being car journalists

A few rough edges, and I reckon they could have done with a fractionally tighter edit. I'd have got rid of that RAF bit entirely too.

But the three amigos are definitely back!

Think it did all of them good to hit the reset button and come back refreshed. The production is through the roof and it's raining money in every shot.

Thought it was okay.

Everything in the tent was dull and cringe-worthy. Jame's May looked particularly uncomfortable in those scenes.
The testing of the 3 cars was better but nothing that we haven't seen numerous times.

I've always felt The three are at their best when they are cocking about on the road trips and it looks like I might enjoy some of the upcoming episodes a lot more.

I'm guessing they wanted it to be clear in the first episode it was still a proper car show, if it was messing about on challenges then you would maybe doubt that. Presumably the celebrity bit was them trying to say there wouldn't be a stupid celebrity bit.

Yeah - start off with a road trip and we'd expect it every week.

I thought it was great up until the celebrity bit where it then took a massive nose dive.

Yes I reckon we could have lost probably 10 minutes from this episode for pacing, and it could have mainly gone from the tent scenes. Just keep the "conversation street" though I'd drop the intro and name for that and just start talking. As others have said the audience interaction was quite cringe-worthy, I'd surprised it made the final cut.

I assume the lap board was deliberately made to look like an early 90's computer game, I know they probably needed to make sure it was nothing like the hand-scrawled version on Top Gear, but it did look a bit naff.

Anyway, minor quibbles really. The lads are back...

Quite amusing, but the fight with the audience and what felt like half an hour going around the Eboladrome were boring and unfunny as hell. Loved the celebrity bit (was that really Carol Vorderman?!) and racing the 3 supercars. Even the missus enjoyed it, and we both know **** all about cars. Watched it mainly for the banter. I'll give the next one a go. Like others have said, production values were excellent.

tent bits were skin crawlingly bad and i was fast forwarding through most of that. The car bits just oozed class though. They never were any good at reading from scripts and the joy of it all just comes when they're dicking about in supercars and just being themselves.

I was hoping for a more american centric theme though, setting up a tent in california is fine but most of the program content then came from other countries.
