Golf 2016

Rather than a Masters specific thread I thought I'd begin a general golf one.

Poor old Ernie at the first, that was horrible to watch but made me feel a bit better about my game

Speith clearly the one to beat, he's a phenom. Shame Day lost the plot at the end of his round as he was playing some good golf.

It's all a bit flat so far. Maybe if Langer can make a move tomorrow it'll bring a shade of excitement.

Loved it so far. Speith double bogeying the last has set up an intriguing last day.

I agree - it's more interesting to see the best players in the world struggle.. just like the rest of us mortals!
And not seeing someone running away with it, with a ten shot lead.

There will be a lot of players this morning going out thinking that if they can just make a few good shots, they have a chance at the jacket..

Eh, people moaned last year when Spieth ******* it, people moan when there's no fireworks either. TBH I just love the Masters in general, it's such an unforgiving course that I find it just as enthralling when someone tames it or when someone struggles on it.

That second shot duff by Spieth at the 12th was mental

Aye, he chunked it big time, that divot was almost as big as the green!

Spieth just couldn't keep going back to the well to get himself out of trouble, but it shows how good he is to have still gone into the final round ahead playing as indifferently as he did, though that double bogey on 18 on Saturday set him back some.

Well done Danny!!! And another runner-up spot to poor old Westie.

Great finish. His brother P_J_Willett has been amusing on Twitter.

Skys coverage of the Open has been awesome so far . Dedicated channel, showing official films from past opens. Having top players in there skyzone hitting balls on pro tracer and getting right close to what's happening in the practice days. Live coverage starts at 6.30 am on the channel also. Brilliant stuff.

Brilliant round by Mickelson , how that putt to break the all time major scoring record didn't go in we will never know . Tougher conditions forecast tomorrow.

Great round. Sometimes when a lesser known player posts a score like that on the first day, you expect them to cave in at some point over the weekend. With a bit of fair weather tomorrow morning, big Phil could build himself a big lead.

Amazing finish to the Open, what a shoot out. Stenson has closed this phenomenally.

Absolutely amazing rounds from both of them considering the occasion. Brilliant battle for so long, but that long putt on 15 from Stenson was a real gut punch and Phil never looked like he was going to win it after that. Henrik was just too good to let it slip from there.

Mickelson will look back on that putt on 15, and the two bogies on the par 3s yesterday that Stenson birdied, as the big killers.
