Even if we get a year or 2, it's great to have some attitude and egos around the club again.

If we can get him the service he needs I have no doubts he will score a lot.

Great to have him around for the younger players aswell!

The Manchester Utd Thread 2015/2016

Zlatan officially signs! Shame he's so old - but I can't name 10 better strikers in the world based on this year.

One year deal with option for a second. So relatively (£10m in wages aside!) risk free!

High wages are starting to kill football & will be it's ultimate downfall.

Beyond excited by this, his interview was excellent. So good to have people coming in and talking about winning, non of this "it's a process", "philosophy", just we want to win, we are going to win. His big fat grin!!!!

And it's ****** Piers Morgan off on Twitter so it's a winner all round!

You'll then be complaining he is winning, but without the United philosophy

The Manchester Utd Thread 2015/2016

I have to admit I'd never heard of
Henrikh Mkhitaryan before a few weeks ago - but BD have confirmed he's signing for us:

https://youtu.be/yMZMZzeuVSA

All his league goals and assists from last season - looks very two footed, can take corners, is strong - could be exactly what we are looking for on the right of our attack.

Edit - reminds me a bit of Kanchelskis.

I think it's for the best, he's been part of/involved in 2 failed managerial campaigns, he needs to earn his stripes.

Absolute legend of a player, of that there is no doubt but he has no proven track record as a manager and I'd prefer Jose to have his own back room staff who he trusts.

While he's been around a long time, is there room for sentiment? How many managers can he stand next to occasionally showing a piece of paper and looking a bit gormless, while the manager performs poorly? At some point you've got to decide that just saying "yes boss, that's a great idea" isn't the future leader you need.

He needs to have a go at management himself, although I can't see there being many takers, someone lower league maybe.

Well, if his managerial style is anything like his punditry, then you dodged a bullet. Unless you want the players going out for the game semi-comatose.

He seemed in the frame for the Forest job at one point, glad we didn't take him. Wouldn't have been a good fit for him, I'd guess he needs somewhere that will either give him some time or to try and revive a sinking ship.

Bolton would be a good fit for him. Big-ish club where he can prove himself with no money to spend and no pressure from the fans. Wouldn't have to relocate either.

Good press conference from Mourinho, saying the right things.

This is not a dream job, this is reality...I think it is a job that everyone wants and not many have a chance to have and I have it and I know obviously the responsibility , the expectations. At the same time I know the legacy, I know what is behind me and the history of this club. I know what the fans expect from me and I think this challenge obviously doesn’t make me nervous because my history in the last ten years or more was always to meet the expectations of big clubs. I feel it comes at the right moment of my career. I feel, very well prepared and very stable. I can say that I am where I want to be.

You can’t focus on one other club. I’m not going to be part of it. I’m the manager of the biggest club in the UK. I focus on us.
On Wenger:

There are some managers, the last time they won a title was ten years ago . . the last time I won was a year ago
On bringing young players through:

I did 49 and some of them we are speaking about big names. Players that are Champions League winners, players that are in the Euros, players that are in their national teams.
On Giggs:
Quote:
It’s not my fault. Ryan wanted to be Manchester United manager and the club decided the job was for me. From this moment Ryan wants to be a manager, like 16 years ago I decided myself I want to be a manager. For many of us we start as assistant coaches and for many of us arrives a big important decision and Ryan has made this decision.

And I thought £15m for Shearer was a lot. How things have moved on in 20 years!

I didn't think Pogba was worth £20 million playing in the Euro 2016.
