I agree, the timing stinks, but I don't think the club have got anything to do with the leak.

Yeah, seems to be leaked by Mendes and cronies. Don't immediately understand why they would leak it at all though - if the deal has been done, then why risk irritating the club by going around them to the media? What do they gain by doing it this way at this time if they have a deal with the club anyway?

I have no idea, I can only think that they are trying to take something away from LVGs victory.

I'll say again LVG, although awful is/was a far better manager than the total prat that is Moyes.
Win the cup, leave, we can both (LVG & United) move on.

LVG certainly doesn't have the cult of personality sideshow that José brings...

It is a shame that we are not talking about the Cup Final... The atmosphere was fantastic, saw Villa - Arsenal last year and yesterday was a different level completly. With palace scored and us equalising so quickly, the stadium was rocking.
Two palace fans were sat next to us (father and son), just don't do it to yourselves at a cup Final, they left strainght after the second goal.
Biggest cheer was when Fergie came on the screen - he was milking in!! Some booing for LVG, which was not surprising.
Far more tense than it should have been. But an awesome day out.

Lots of leaks in the papers this morning about LVG and his management - no surprises really. A little disappointing, but at least he didn't stop the chips.

Jose doesn't fit United's style of play, though. And it's all about Jose, not the team.

There are no other options though, unless you count Giggs. Willing to give Jose a chance.

Mourinho has supposedly told a "close friend" that he intends to sell Rooney while he still has some value ....lol and so it begins

Probably makes sense to get rid of Rooney, especially if you have intentions to go on a spending spree yourself.
Jose for his faults, is the only one out there who is available and looks like he might bring success and know the PL. Not entirely sure they'd trust Giggs with the money needed to rebuild the squad, he might be ready after three years of Jose.
I'd guess the leak has come from the JM end rather than the United one, I really don't think they're that classless to leak it themselves. Just a reminder of what you're getting yourselves in for.

Unfortunately, I can't see another viable option, aside from JM. The only other alternative is possibly Larry White, if PSG chose to get rid, but he's no where near as experienced and tested as JM.

I think Giggs needs to get some experience elsewhere - choose very carefully!
Every managerial appointment is a risk. There is no one else who has experience of winning the PL who is available.
Rooney is not good enough as a first team striker anymore, certaintly not as a midfielder. I wouldnt mind him as a squad player, ala Giggs in his last 5/6 years, but he's not the type of player who can come in and out - he's notorious for needing a number of games to get going. He's a very old 30 year old. But he was once a fantastic player, and one of the best we have had, he's just not that player anymore.

It would be a good but sad send off for both Rooney and Carrick, completing the set of trophies as a last hurrah.

That's not true, but I'll stop short of providing the name as I think everybody (United or not) will agree that it wouldn't be the right choice.
Given that City have appointed Pep, Liverpool Klopp, Chelsea Conte, as others have said above, Mourinhno is the only reasonable choice if you want to complete next season. A second rate manager is not going to cut it.

Another badly handled sacking though.

I actually think it was handled reasonably well - considering we have obviously been talking to Jose for a while. It looks like Mendes leaked it on Saturday. This is the first time the club have said anything.
We let him concentrate on trying to finish in the top 4 and win the cup. Alternative would be the City/ Pep approach of announcing it mid-season, and we saw a collapse from them. If we did the same, would have finished mid-table.

Moyes pulling out of the Villa job this morning could hint at a phone-call to Giggs and a new job on the horizon. A return to Everton? Newcastle if Rafa doesn't fancy it?
As for Mourinho, well it can't get much worse to watch than it has been this season and he's certainly got the balls to 'motivate' some of the bigger egos who have underperformed since Fergie left.
