I think LVG will be allowed to walk away respectfully at the end of the season, particularly as it is his last management role. I am also 90% sure that Jose is already signed up, mys basis is simply that if not Jose would be somewhere else already and we would have made a signing in January.

Thats already happened, hasnt had a director for over 18 months now, think Choccy left and never got replaced.

Our youth setup is a joke currently...

It is pretty obvious where Jose was going the moment he got the sack. not sure how that will help Utd though

Nice to see some media and some of these boards getting on the 'Leicester City will win the PL' bandwagon.

it'd guarantee points against Arsenal every season!

Not really, where are the jobs available for him to go to? He isn't a "five year project" sort of manager, so his choices are limited. I can't see him wanting anything in Germany unless it was Bayern. In Spain, only the big two, I doubt either will be recruiting him. Leaves whatever there is in Italy or Paris, can't see any other jobs interesting him.

In England, I'd guess his options are United, Arsenal or City, possibly Spurs. Arsenal might potentially recruit him, but I think the others are happy with what they've got.

Aside from Man Utd, I don't really see him left with many options. Madrid recruited internally and Bayern took Mancini, which avoided a big managerial merry go round of the big clubs.

I'd guess that he's not been snapped up because there isn't a club he'd go to that needs a manager. He isn't about to take over at Villa is he?

Maybe LVG has the same CL clause that Moyes had, and they're waiting until the end of the season.

Utd will use the excuse for sacking LVG at the end of the season for not qualifying for the CL and they will end up playing in the Nohopa league instead and then they will appoint Jose in the hope they can get back on track,if they ever get back on track that is

In other news, Luke Shaw has been named in the Europa League squad, hopefully a sign he will be back sooner rather than later.

Maybe we'll have a good cup run and settle for winning the FA Cup! After all, it's what we used to do...

BBC now reporting we have had discussions with Jose. They are usually very reliable with their stories (notwithstanding their gossip column). In would seem pretty obvious what's now going to happen at the end of the season.

Just read that myself, and agree about it having more weight when on the beeb.

To be fair, their gossip column isn't really reporting, it's a meta collection of gossip from other news sources.

I'd hate to no longer see the riveting football we've had under lvg and Moyes

I see to remember you saying that you'd take winning over entertaining football when njose was in his first term. I'd take that now.

I find winning is entertainment enough. Lots of Fergies teams ground out results.

It's just a smokescreen of people who want LVG out. Criticise him for losing, then if he doesn't lose criticise him for his style of play. Then if they entertain a bit and don't win, what they actually cared about was winning.

I don't think teams who entertain are generally known for winning, Arsenal for example.

I think Chelsea fans have very short memories and will be gutted if José joins Utd. Sacking him has hardly improved performances or results for Chelsea... I don't believe he was necessarily the problem.

I think it would be awesome having Klopp, José and Guardiola in the same league.

At least with United they seem to be there abouts in the league, you feel that they're not a basket case. However with Chelsea, you are right, they don't seem to have ditched him and then turned back into a championship winning side. It's looking like JM might be the new boss after all, might be interesting to see if LVG carries on from the stoke victory and continues the form.

Haven't been paying too much attention to them recently, but isn't the general consensus that Chelsea's performances and results improved dramatically since Mourinho left?

Was just going to say that. They're unbeaten in 8.

I'm sure that United fans would love having Jose as their boss. There's nothing wrong with the way he sets his team up and plays if it means in the long run he's getting the results. Unfortunately for him and Chelsea, it wasn't happening this season and hence his exit.

I think this "playing the Manchester United way" is a relic from many years ago. It's all right being all fancy dan, playing with 2 wingers and 3 attacking midfielders, but most mid and lower league table teams are far better organised than they were in the 60s-90s. Teams going for the title have to be more pragmatic these days.
