Boo - will mean I can no longer record the races to watch at a more convenient time. I'm using NowTV to watch the sports on Sky.

They kept that quiet, I'd not seen anything advertising it.
Some of that in-car engine whine is a bit ear piercing.
It sounds like the commentary is being broadcast to the cloud as well, there's an odd echo from their voices.

I imagine they probably just decided to air it on BBC2 instead of just BBC online due to the early start. Hopefully it succeeds enough that they might put more on.

Really not liking the qualifying at CotA for the Indycars. When F1 was there, there was a definite no leaving the circuit rule which INDYCAR donít give a toss about. They must be embarrassed by how much slower their cars are.

Added to that is the stupid placement of the qualifying line. Same place as the start finish line please not 2 corners earlier so they can quickly jump into the pit, watching cars getting stuck in traffic is part of the fun!

Watching the Indycar on Sky+ expecting to wind through green flag adbreaks but so far nothing to report. Just wish theyíd kept the BT commentators for when NBC goes for their very regular breaks.

BTCC and Indycar this weekend. I've not followed the whole BTCC season for a little while (not had the time!), but I'll watch some of the opening rounds tomorrow I think. Massive entry list again, nice to see it doing so well.

Indycar back at Barber Motorsport Park tomorrow evening 9pm UK time, nice track that.
I'm hoping Sky will eventually cover the breaks with their own commentators but it was indeed good to see they stuck with the feed whilst the US breaks were on last time, as I was going to give it up if we had to endure the level of interruptions we had in the first race.

General Motor Racing Thread MkII

Donít forget World Touring Cars starts today too, race one at 4:35pm Eurosport 1, hopefully Shedden is still in it, and faster than last year.

Thanks - forgot about that, even though I'd apparently scheduled it to record on the Sky box!

Never heard of this Lynk and Co but if they were looking for brand recognition theyíve got it.

Well I can only assume whoever theyíve got doing the adbreaks on SkyF1, they werenít paying attention to the race as they were happy to stay on during the yellow, even though the NBC had two breaks, only to take their only 2 breaks under green, 72 laps in, madness.

Yeah, really disappointed with Sky. Two sets of adverts 3-4 laps apart in the most interesting part of the race. Golden opportunity to do so under yellows if they really insist on running adverts and they stuck with the coverage, only to make us miss actual racing laps. Utterly ruined the flow of the race for me.

So sad BT Sport lost the coverage, as they provided very insightful commentary during the interminable US ad-breaks as well, and didn't follow any breaks during green flag running.

I donít understand why the US commentary team stop talking, they know they have non-stop viewers, they keep selling the NBC pass, which Iím guessing is a subscription service to get uninterrupted coverage. You hear in the inflection in commentary for other channels motorsport for when they build to an adbreak for a sub channel thatís piggybacking on their coverage only for the main channel to carry on. NBC could easily do that, then they also have commentary of incidents that happen on break to edit into highlights later.

Itís logical right?

Yes it's strange they don't carry on, it would be so much nicer if they did - and like you say it'd be much easier for highlights and replays.

On a related note, here's Alonso's car for the Indy 500:

Just checking on the next races and while this weekend is barren of anything, NEXT weekend oh hell, F1, FE, BTCC and WTCR.... this means Saturday AND Sunday there could be 3 way clashes! Couldnít they have done a little better planing?
