Good for Sato, if Chilton couldn't get it I wanted him to get it

I walked out of the pub when Alonso's car blew up. I think he has every chance of winning this till his bad luck caught up with him.

Nice ovation from the crowd.

Never seen one of these before but tuned in to see how Alonso would do. Luckily, I have Virgin Media, so BT is part of the package.
After Monaco (was there any on track overtakes?), this race was surprisingly addictive. Are they all like this? If so I'll watch more. Surprised at the number of Brits racing too. For such a simple design, the speeds these guys (and girls) were reaching meant no room for any error.
And yes, Dixon was a couple of feet from death there, yet got out and walked away.

Indy do a mixture of what they refer to as street courses (temporary race tracks on roads), road courses (permanent race tracks) and various types of ovals.

Races are definitely more variable than F1! Not to say there isn't the odd quiet one, but that's rare

Next two weekends have two races this coming Sat/Sun in Detroit on a street course, then the weekend after there's a race at the Texas Motor Speedway oval, though Texas may be quite late at night for us UK folks.

Definitely give it a go, it's how I got addicted after buying a BT Sport subscription to watch the Indy 500 a couple of years back.

The presentation is usually far superior too - so long as it's not a race in the early hours on the morning, BT have Keith Collantine (who runs F1 Fanatic) and Ben Evans to cover the US ad breaks. None of this studio stuff we saw last night, those guys just carry on commentating over the feed whilst the US is on a break and usually give a lot of strategy insight.

TL;DR: yes you should watch more

Nice. You can see the back end starting to drift out and he goes and does that!

IndyCar is in Detroit this weekend for two races. It's on tonight on BT Sport 3 at 20:30 for race 1, then Sunday on BT Sport 2 at 20:30 for race 2.

For those that wanted to see the Indy 500 but couldn't, that's the whole broadcast on the official IndyCar YouTube channel. Green flag at 1:10 if you want to skip the build-up:

Bonus Alonso comedy radio:

Texas 600 - what a crazy race! Incidents all over the place. Just a shame the stadium only looked half full.
Compared to the street racing last week, these ovals are great to watch. Shame F1 doesn't have an oval track for one race at least.

Yes that Texas 600 was crazier than a British election. Replayed at 21:30 on Bt Sport ESPN for anyone that wants to watch.

Lap 1 was ridiculous, no wonder they've strengthened the front wings and even then I was amazed they didn't break.

Formula E is the only single-seater series I've seen where there's so much of that kind of contact. I assume it's something to do with the brakes / power delivery / tyres, but you'd think it would have stopped happening with some experience.

Mercedes are pulling out of DTM and setting up a Formula E team, this could be a big deal

Formula E: Porsche to enter team in 2019, ending Le Mans involvement

Lets hope they can improve the tracks a bit with all these new teams entering

To be honest I find Formula E rather hard to like, and I've kind of drifted away from it. I too find the tracks generally poor, there's too much contact between the cars, oh and Fanboost exists

Anyway it's the end of the season with two races this weekend. Tomorrow's race isn't even on Channel 5! They're showing a film instead and have put FE on Spike.

The biggest turn off for me is the tracks all look the same and are really dull. If they did it on regular race tracks I'd probably watch it more.
