May as well replace the goal with a barn door with Soldado on

Just over 10 mins to go and you need a goal. Why isn't he bringing Townsend and Eriksen on for Chadli and Dembele who've both done nothing?

Spurs have been absolutely awful today, Not one player would get pass marks today and I don't think any of them had tried a lick today or could be bothered, 80mins to get a shot on target and you can't blame playing a game on Thursday in Europe as most of the players who played today were rested

You really should be done and dusted. All set up for the sucker punch at the end.

It's going to take years to unpick the mess that Villas Boas left. Levy has to take all the blame for taking us backwards again. Just look at the goal difference, let alone the points, in the table and tell me with a straight face that Spurs are anywhere near being a top-four club. No style, no flair and no goal threat. A **** load of no-mark players that cost millions and no hope of recouping any of it.

Many people are critical of the "mercenaries" at Man City but one only needs look at the overpaid, underachieving primadonnas that have made up the Tottenham squad for the last few years to see football at its most shameful.

Not really is it. At least the City players, for all their apparent cynicism are able to show the sort of spirit and industry Spurs could only dream of. For such an honest, old school club, Tottenham seem intent on living down to all the worst archetypes of modern English football.

If we hadn't already, we can safely kiss goodbye to 4th place today.

It's time for Dawson to go now, I hate players who turn their back on the ball/shot and he's so slow and obvious in his positioning and diving in, that he's quite a liability these days.

Lloris was decent but other than Vertonghen, I wouldn't keep any of the rest of the back four.

Right from the outside, we didn't seem to have any creative or running players from the midfield.Bentaleb did ok in the first half but was average in the 2nd.

Dembele is as frustrating as ever, seems to have so much power and ability to shake off tackles but wont drive into the area to fashion shooting chances.

Soldado should've been sidelined months ago, it still makes me sad that we are seemingly happy to let Defoe go, but keep a guy who cant even hit the target from as close as Soldado has been in the last few games.

Lennon played ok for about 45 minutes, one of very few players who actually looked interested in doing what he's paid for today.

Adebayor did ok with next to no service.

Overall the "team" just looked utterly disinterested today, at least until Sherwood would've torn into them at half time.

This is twice this week Spurs have cost me an accumulator. And the one on Thursday was ~360/1!

That seemed like AVB was still in charge, hopeless with the ball but even more clueless defending at times. We made them look like a good team when their results and league position tell a very different story.

If we don't get the top 4 then I hope we miss out on the Europa League. As good as it can be in the latter stages it really is a waste of time.

It’s pretty clear that Levy is the problem, he has repeatedly failed to kick on (eg signing Saha and Nelsen when challenging at the top) and sold our best players. Which is fine if that’s the plan and we have to be a ‘selling club’, it’s the deception that we are challenging at the top which is hard to take. He failed to back AVB, who I’d never have appointed, and presumably Sherwood had the ability to sell himself sufficiently to get the job though we now know others were approached. There is clearly little long term plan other than trying to make a net profit on player sales.

Tim’s decisions yesterday though, were particularly mad. He is trying to prove his own point by playing Bentaleb every minute of every game, the decision to go 3-5-2 was one of the craziest things I’ve seen. Eriksen not even coming on also just defies logic and evidence

I would say Lloris, Walker, Vertonghen, Sandro (though his fitness is a concern) and Ade are ‘top 4’ players. A couple of others are borderline but repeatedly fail to fully convince, I’m pretty confident that Eriksen and Lamela (remember him) can be added to their ranks in time.

Most likely we’ll lose at least 2 of these in the summer and start again, sign a load of young ‘prospects’ one of which may be the next Bale/Modric to sell on, and regress even further.

What’s most depressing for me, is that after years of regularly attending and enjoying games, even when in mid-table, I am struggling to identify with the club and not at all motivated to pay to attend. This is partially the high turnover of players, the persistence with mid-table or lower players as automatic first teamers but more the realisation that like football as a whole, we are primarily a business looking to add stock value. Any feeling for the team is secondary so why should fans reciprocate?

I'm not particularly motivated by seeing the current crop humiliated in the CL but from next season, winning the Europa gets you in any way which just highlights what a pointless cup it is

he allowed the Bale money to be invested in what he believed would be a major increase in strength and depth. Eriksen is a class footballer, Soldado has a proven track record abroad, Chiriches is a relatively solid centre back (moreso than the hapless Dawson) but Lamela was a punt who looked to all intents as if he might be incredible. Had he signed Kapoue and Chadli and relied on the luck of the returning Townsend being the saviour I'd agree this isn't the case.

I think Sherwood should get till the end of the season then hopefully we bring in a proven heavyweight a la van Gaal. I can't see us finishing top four, I'm just surprised how close we've kept to them despite having such an abysmal home/scoring record.

Bearing in mind Liverpool have had no European games to clutter their season (i think 6 out of our 8 league losses have come after European matches) are we better letting the likes of Bentaleb, Fryers, Kane and co have a go for the remainder of the seasons if top 4 is not really a prospect?

Champions League is certainly gone now imo, not sure why Sherwood setup with such a negative team yesterday, seemed to be a very AVB esque performance for me.

Surely it should either be Eriksen threading balls through or andros and Lennon tearing up he wings.

And instead we started with Capoue, Bentaleb and Paulinho who let's be honest are three holding midfielders.

Yup, none as good as Sandro in the holding role imo. Paulinho shows flashes of brilliance but for us to struggle to get past yobo and bassong speaks volumes.
