You run with both the foxes and the hounds? Now that is a surprise.

Arsenal are the sworn enemy, always have been and always will be.

Anyone else think Tim is being stubborn in playing Bentaleb? Looks to have some potential but nowhere near ready for first team, certainly not ahead of Capoue who is an established player on the fringes of the French side.

As I've said previously, he's gambling with someone else's chips as he has nothing to lose

Seems a nice guy and made some important changes after AVB's stubborness but I don't see him as deserving the job in any way, he's a Levy yes man to the end of the season which is presumably why he's not been entrusted with any serious transfers

I hadn't managed to watch any of his previous performances but Bentaleb was so far out of his depth against city it was frightening. Probably not helped by what looked like a lacklustre (later proved to be an injured) display from Dembele. Siggy had his work cut out and Lennon went missing. Glad to see Rose's red overturned, no doubting the end result but it made the game a pointless exercise for 40 off minutes.

We seem to be lacking distinct class everywhere but in goal, the backup just hasn't been good enough, but as I say I haven't managed to watch many games

Completely lacklustre first half, not a single shot on target.

Eriksen looks absolutely gutless anywhere near a tackle.

Dawson looks primed to give away a penalty today.

Lets have Townsend, Defoe and Kaboul on, get some decent chances created.

Phew, a million miles from a classic, but a welcome three points.

If I were an Everton fan I'd feel very hard done by today! They looked so much slicker and composed than us. We couldnt pass and didnt seem to know where anyone else was. I honestly felt they had an extra man! Lets hope the returning players like Townsend can just put a bit more freshness and impetus in. Ade took his goal well and I was impressed with his work ethic in frustrating circumstances.
Walker really needs to work on his crossing as he had a few chances but hit the first defender every time.

Agreed, plus the seven or so corners Eriksen took, were all quite poor.He looks quite lightweight to me, good touches aside, he's a bit luxury for what we need between now and seasons end.

Use the pace of Townsend and Lennon (when he's not AWOL) to set up chances and have two forwards playing off each other.

Lloris did very well for us again today.

Very uninspiring but I guess we can't complain with 3 points.

Sounded like quite the emphatic victory, Krul definitely didn't have a day like he had against us earlier in the season either.

Wow, was not expecting that! Wonderful result. Shame Fulham couldn't do us a favour but they did better than I think we expected.

Adebayor, Lennon, Walker, Dembele, Kaboul and Lloris all left at home so a chance for some of the players on the fringes of the first team to make their mark this evening.

Great result for me because I'm going to watch the 2nd leg next Thursday with my friend who's a spurs fan. I'm a neutral so hoping it'll make for an exciting game!

Hard to say anything positive about that, horribly dull and a woeful pitch which may at least mitigate some of the woeful finishing but that's being awfully generous.

That guy Konoplyanka did look the business though, that being said he was up against Kyle Naughton.

Absolute garbage, Bentaleb has probably been one of the better performers which says a lot
