The Liverpool FC Thread 2012/2013

What about Adam Johnson from Man City?

What strikers are available though? Kind of leaving it too late again aren't we! That's how we ended up with Carroll for stupid money!

We need a natural goalscorer. Suarez and Borini will only get so many a season.

I'm just completely biased against existing Premier League talent and expect them to fail if they sign for us. Seen too many of these guys with excellent Premier League CVs completely fail to make the required step up. They either can't hack the pressure, don't have the consistency or just don't have the mentality to fit in with other big players. I'm already half expecting Joe Allen to flame out and he's only played one game (probably MoTM for us as well!)

Could be a golden season though. we've seen it before where a striker does everything right one season and then goes back to their original level.

We do seem to lack the ability to be able to find high quality unknown talent from abroad like other clubs manage to do and end up paying big bucks for known British players. Hopefully these new scouts will help with that...

Saying that, I do think Dempsey is a good player and *could* turn out a good signing (our record of turning decent players crap notwithstanding!)

He scored goals in previous seasons too and he mostly played in midfield those seasons. Like other signings, he is a risk, but at least has a history of sticking the ball in the net.

Surprised we are not in for Scott Sinclair who is being quoted at £5m to City, at least we wouldn't be buying him just to fill a HG quota.

Haven't we already ****** Swansea off once though with going for Allen when there was supposed to be a hands-off for 12 months?

I thought any Swansea players were fair game provided someone else had bid for them first ?

We also triggered Allen's release clause didn't we ?

The Allen move sounded like we broke the agreement, but the Sinclair one would be fair game given that City are in.

Spearing being linked with a move to Bolton, possibly a loan move.

if newcastle end up getting carroll for £12m after we could have maybe squeezed 17m from them when hammers were showing an interest it just further compounds the absolute joke that is our player buying/selling process. i know its paper talk but i think unless him and/or joe cole dont get shipped we will struggle to bring anyone in.

hopefully something will happen tho.

Ben Smith ‏@BenSmithBBC
#LFC have left Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez, Martin Skrtel and Glen Johnson out of the squad to play #Hearts tomorrow

That's a bit of a risk and maybe he's putting a lot more importance on Sunday than tomorrow

The league is supposed to be his priority. To be honest, I'd rather we concentrated on the league myself.

Hopefully sterling will start...wondering if Carroll will play?

Will this cup tie him?

Hmmm. Hearts won't be easy, I imagine they'll be really up for that one.

Nope - it would only cup-tie him if he moved to another club who were involved in this 'round'

Similarly, Assaidi (?) can't play against Hearts (as he has played in an earlier qualifier) but can play if we get through.

Still no Sahin deal for Arsenal according to latest stories from Spain - Mourinho has apparently told Sahin he will never play for Madrid again if he joins Arsenal hence the delay again!
