DNR - Is this an all-time low?

Only just discovered the Disney's absolutely disastrous BD release of The Sword in the Stone. I'm thinking this might be the most horrendous use of DNR from a AAA studio on the Blu-ray format. Amazingly though it seems to have mostly positive reviews judging by the links gathered up on DVD-Basen!

Speaking of which, check out the frankly incredulous Home Theatre Forum review. There are comparison grabs in the comment section and if you read to the end of said section you'll see an appearance from an old favourite here in the DVD&Blu-ray Discussion forums dragging up his age-old debate on screengrabs and destroying just about any credibility he once had!

Oh and just in case you ever wondered just how misrepresentative a website review can be, check out this glowing review that features a rather lovely "screenshot" right at the start which clearly isn't any indication of what the Blu-ray actually looks like.

I read about this on the Blu-ray forum, it really is absolutely terrible! Like a bad Photoshop filter has been applied to every frame. And it's terrifying reading some of those comments in the thread you linked to, how certain people cannot see the difference in the comparisons posted yet go on to say "This is the problem with still frames" .

That looks awful. You'd probably be better off with the old DVD if there was one.

Animation never looked better.

I take it you haven't watched any then? as the upgrade can be just as impressive it's just a shame Disney have ruined The Sword in the Stone instead of doing a proper restoration like they performed on The Jungle Book which looks fantastic.
