VDS wants his farewell to Old Trafford - but he does get crocked - what a nightmare!

Hargreaves to leave United

A real shame. If he can regain some kind of fitness a team is going to be getting themselves one hell of a pay-as-you-play bargain.

Tremendous player when he was fit.

Who in their right mind is going to take a risk on his level of wages for a length of deal that the player would be happy to sign.

Woodgate is a similar situation at Spurs.

Low basic wages with a Pay-as-you-play deal.

Win win for both parties.

Win for Hargreaves if he can stay fit.

Always sad to hear that a player can't fufil his potential.

And a win for a 'lower' team to have a fit Hargreaves playing for them.

Buying any player is a gamble.

He's just a bigger gamble than most. I think that he has Sunderland written all over him

How is a low basic wage and pay as you play contract a win for the player? He gets injured for a long period and he's earning bugger all in comparison and not playing on top of that - Double whammy. No-one in their right mind would sign that contract uess they had no other offers.

Because noone in their right mind will offer what he's worth fully fit - £80k a week+

And a low basic for a football is still silly money.

Well Hargreaves has been paid £5million plus whilst at United, so he won't be poor and hasn't justified his wages.

The winner against Arsenal and some important performances in the CL knock-outs made him a key part of the 2008 CL/PL double. Well worth a £25m outlay.

Just because he's got a terrible injury record doesn't mean he'll be forced to accept any old crappy basic wage. There'll always be a team with more money than sense willing to pay him a shedload of wages on the absurd gamble that he'll magically recover and be fit.

Just look at Hull with Jimmy Bullard. That one worked out well didn't it?

Who said he was going to pick a weak team? He said ages ago it would be strong.

yeah i know , i suppose he doesnt want to make the same mistake as a couple of years ago and not have a 2 week break for the players before the Final , even the bench makes up , what i think will make up the squad for the final with Ferdinand , Rooney and Valencia on there

You can say a lot of things about Ferguson but you could never question his integrity towards the league competition.

Plenty of people questioned it for the Hull and West Ham games a few seasons ago.
