There's definitely more going on in the long outro of The Background World than we can hear. This is hidden in the waveform spectrograph:

13118? A date?

Hmm. 31st January next year is a Wednesday, so not a typical day of the week for a music release.

Would Trent not be more likely to use the American date format?

I think that 13118 could only be a US format date. Most other date formats use leading zeros whilst the US don't. outmatetone was probably correct with 31st January 2018 if it is a date.

Nine Inch Nails pt.2 - what Trent did next.

Eh, yeah. I was using the US date format.

Looking at it again, the final character looks more like an 'E'. If it was the UK date format, it could be the 13th November and the 'E' could have some significance. Doesn't work in the US date format though.

I'm such a div. I ordered the physical EP expecting it to be a CD, but no, its a rather nicely packaged D/L code holder.

Anyone interested in taking it off my hands? Ideally I'd swap it for a book. Give me a shout!

Trent & Atticus's new score for Ken Burns Vietnam War documentary is up now on Spotify. 4 years in the making, apparantly.

By the way, for anyone interested in watching the Ken Burns Vietnam War series, it now has a UK broadcast date. Starts 25th September on BBC4.

I finally got a vinyl copy of The Fragile Deviations 1 but, Christ, it was a ballache...

It was showing as out of stock on the UK site, so I ordered it from the US store. It worked out slightly cheaper than getting it from the UK one anyway...

They didn't dispatch the item for a good three weeks after taking my money, after which it took a further two weeks to get to the UK. And then it was held up with a Ł20 customs charge (which took it well over the price of getting it from the UK store).

During this entire saga, of course, the item is now listed back on the UK store.

Lesson learnt. The UK store might have items listed at much higher prices, but at least it might actually arrive in a decent timeframe and you know exactly what you're paying...

And, after all that, the item itself is a little underwhelming. The music is obviously great, and sounds great, but the packaging is unremarkable and a bit cheap looking. It certainly doesn't feel like a premium product or collector's item.

Yeah, getting the vinyls across the world has been a nightmare. The company really screwed things up. The lesson: buy from Amazon if you can.

Yeah. I’d usually plump for Amazon rather than a band-specific site, but none of the recent NIN vinyls seem to be available anywhere else.... annoying!

The NIN store came back up over Christmas but I just never got round to ordering anything so today went for copies of the last two EPs, Downward Spiral and The Fragile. I'm really enjoying listening to vinyl, much more than I thought I would if I'm being honest, so am starting to buy things like this when I can.

They've started doing the new vinyls in HMV, and they're slightly cheaper than the official store. I picked up The Downward Spiral a few weeks back.
