Were Cold Cave any good? I notice they're playing at Primavera after NIN. Wondering if it's worth sticking around? (bearing in mind, they go on about 2:30 AM!)

Umm, they were okay. 80s sounding synth but heavier. One song really sounded like late-period Sisters of Mercy.

Made me think of a slightly heavier Bowie. Interesting.

I didn't get any of that vibe - it was pretty EBM gothy and not particularly interesting.

I was listening to some of it on Spotify the other day, and it was OK. Difficult to gauge if it's much cop live though.

A dude fiddling with a sequencer and another dude flapping his arms around. It wasn't a festival of thrills.

They were pretty awesome in Barcelona. Even though it was a festival, we still got the same length set as the solo shows. Was ecstatic to hear Piggy/March of the Pigs and The Frail/The Wretched in album order. There were tracks I wished they played, but every album got its fair share of exposure so it was nice and balanced.

I took some pictures:

Good photos.

Remember Trent working with Beats and then Apple buying Beats?

So, the 24 track album will be released on Tuesday and pre-orders are up... The digital download is $11.99. I've avoided listening to any of the tracks as I've thought his soundtracks work best when listened-to as an album rather than just individual tracks.

From what I've heard it's very much from the 'Ghosts' school of thought. It's quite hard going if I'm honest. Perhaps it'll work better in the context of the movie but I don't think it'll be an album I can sit and enjoy listening to like I can The Social Network.

I found the Dragon Tattoo one a bit like that to be honest. I love The Social Network and can listen to that album over and over again, but struggled with Dragon. So 24 tracks could be a bit daunting!

The track I heard sounded a lot more like 'Dragon Tattoo' than 'Social Network', so I wasn't very impressed.

I see what you mean, after a first listen its definitely more like Dragon Tattoo with instrumentation from Ghosts... Lots of tracks suggesting a foreboding atmosphere and creeping menace etc. I think its more accessible than Tattoo but that could just be day one keen-ness if that makes sense.

A lot of The Social Network soundtrack is just Ghosts repackaged though.

Trent has released instrumental, alternate versions of both The Fragile and With Teeth exclusively on Apple Music. Also contains some unreleased material.
Unfortunately, I don't use Apple Music/iTunes and never will. So that's annoying.

Someone will just rip them. They'll be easy enough to find. Just more evidence that the industry doesn't *quite* get the internet. Trying to lock material away behind exclusive doors is a waste of time.
