Nick Cave's New Album Announced...

From the email announcement:
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds release their 14th studio album DIG, LAZARUS, DIG!!! on 3rd March 2008.

Produced by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and Nick Launay, who worked with the band on their last album Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus, the new album was recorded over the summer at State of the Ark Studios in Richmond and mixed by Nick Launay at British Grove in Chiswick.

DIG, LAZARUS, DIG!!! features artwork by Brit artists Tim Noble and Sue Webster.

I'm pretty excited, as the last album was a masterpiece. Mr. Cave's tash has been refined, too, and is looking very Magnum PI.

He's got another album just out as well. The OST for the Brad Pitt Jesse James movie.

Cave also does a bit of acting in it. (His 2nd acting gig with Brad Pitt.)

What, with this and Ministry and possibly Primus looks like I'll be going to a lot of gigs this year... might have to go to this one on my own though.

That single is very good...I have not bothered with Nick Cave as I was under the impression that his stuff was all slow, depressing and melodramatic!

Is this single/style typical of the Cavesters sound?

His latest stuff, The Lyre of Orpheus double album and the Grinderman band/record is very much like this, with a demonstrable sense of humour and a (slightly) more upbeat sound. He's always been great, though.
Did anyone read the preview of this new one in the last Mojo (with Led Zep on the front)? Mr. Cave hypes it up well: "It's an absolute shoo-in for album of the year at the Mojo awards. If it doesn't win, I'll be setting fire to proceedings."

He has gone through quite a few styles throughout his careeer. Check out some Birthday Party for him at his most raucous

He is also one of the most constitne artist ever as IMHO there is only one even slightly dodgy Bad Seeds Album which is Nocturma and even that isn't as bad as a lot of people make out.

The monstrous last track makes up for any failing the rest of the album has.

I love Nocturma. Especially the bonus DVD with the Babe, I'm on Fire video. Good to see the guys have a laugh... albeit at everyone else's expense
