Nice to see Fabio score. They've been trying him out in midfield for the reserves, might be a long term position for him yet.

i mentioned this as a possible position for him a while back so nice to see it so resoundingly vindicated since we have no other left wingers in the squad it certainly makes sense to play him there. Yes we have Giggs and Park but neither of them actually stay on the left when we play them there, and Nani also prefers the right wing, although he did play quite well from the left today.

Pleasing to see us kill Wigan off today, albeit late on. Now our defense is looking so much more solid, perhaps Smalling should keep Ferdinand's place for good, he certainly seems to work well alongside Vidic.

Have to give Gibson credit as well, had only been on the pitch a few minutes and managed to pick out pass of the match for the third goal. Overall a very good performance, and we certainly could have had double the amount of goals if we'd taken some of our earlier chances.

Well that was nice. We needed that.

Based on the first 60mins, we were average - but when we went two up it could have been more than 4 - great to kill a game off instead of the usual squeaky bum last 5 mins.

Great start to a difficult couple of weeks.

To be quite honest if Rooney does get a ban , which knowing the FA's record in these matters , i think he will , i dont think we'll miss him much , the Berbatov/Little Pea partnership is a winner for me

Agree with that. On his form this last year, it would be hard to turn down a HUGE bid for him if it meant we got to spend the cash on two or three players who are going to be needed when Fergies Fogeys finally give in to dementia / osteoporosis / shock of receiving a telegram from the Queen.

Did I hear that right on the radio? I swear they just said Hernandez has had 13 shots on goal this season, scored 9

At least he knows it isn't allowed. You should be fully aware by now that what you posted it not to be discussed on here.

Chico reminds me of Solskjaer. Can be largely ineffective, sometimes you barely know he's there... but always pops up in the right place at the right time and is a clinical finisher to boot.

He's sort of the opposite of Nani... how many chances did he have today? The ball seemed to constantly land at his feet at one point but he fluffed it all up... and THAT free kick?! Jeez! Why don't any other player ever contend to take them? Even with Ronaldo there we'd get Giggs/Rooney/Scholes step up once in a while, but he seemingly can't be shifted off the set piece perch... even though he rarely ever even hits the target, let alone score. Nani could be one of the best wingers in the world if he'd just PASS it after mazing into the box. If Chico had those chances he'd have gotten 3+.

9 goals in 18 EPL games now for him, and I'd say over half of them he was playing less than 20 minutes. Surely Fergie must get over his stubornness soon and give him more of a chance, but then I still think Rooney needs to play... perhaps Chico and Berby upfront with Rooney just behind them.

and the Wizard speaks.....

"But, what will happen, the question has been asked and because it is Wayne Rooney the press will raise a campaign to get him hung by Tuesday or electrocuted or something like that.

"It is unbelievable. Watch the press. It will be interesting to see it."

What's so confusing?

He elbowed the bloke and it certainly didn't look accidental, as he lifted his elbow to do it. From the ref's point of view, it looked like he caught him as he ran past, so only got a talking to.

Regardless of what the ref saw or thought he saw, what Rooney did deserves a ban in my opinion.

How about that one fella's late, late ankle breaker on Evra? Didn't even get a yellow for that... a little more weight to it and his ankle was a gonna.

I haven't seen incident, but so what??
Two wrongs don't make a right.

* When I say "so what", I mean in relation to whatever Rooney did, not so what about a player nearly getting his ankle smashed

What about the nations sweetheart Gerrard?

He got away with that without a card or suspension and he went out of his way to do that.
If you watch todays incident, the guy stops in his tracks and then jumps sideways to get into Rooney's path. Perhaps his elbow was a bit high, but that player was trying to obstruct him...

It was a feisty game all round, Diamy was taking a clobbering especially. It's a Manchester derby so you've got to expect the players to be fired up a little... more exciting than that 'spectacle' we had against City the other month...

Gerrard can be a toerag, and often gets away with murder.
But if two wrongs don't make a right, neither do three

There's no if needed. He already is one of the best wingers in the world. If he further develops his game then he'll simply be one of the best players in the world.
