When I was winding my (City fan) kids up about the half empty COM at the weekend they said they preferred it that way because they didn't have to wait as long for a pie at half time. Every cloud.

just realised our next games are:
marseille away (tonight)
wigan away (sat)
chelsea away (tues)
liverpool away (sun)

a very interesting 10 days or so.

fergie must be tempted to rest players v wigan to get them ready for the chelsea match. especially as they dont have a game at the weekend.

its certainly feels like squeaky bum time is upon us

Yup, it's that 'make or break' time of the season again. Could still go either way....on a knife edge....just as we Utd supporters like it

I'll be amazed if it's anything other than 4-5-1 tonight. Not bothered if we play 'carp' (ie our std away form), just sneak a one-niler

1-Nil?

I expect 2+ away goals against that team.

Starting XI: Van Der Sar; O’Shea,Vidic,Smalling, Evra; Fletcher, Gibson, Carrick; Nani, Rooney; Berbatov

Subs: Kuszczak, Brown, Hernandez, Scholes, Fabio, Rafael, Obertan

So Rooney on the left then?

Has the pieman got a picture of the wizard in a compromising position or something?? If Rafael is 100% fit, I just don't get it

I expected O'Shea in place of Rafael for the usual dull reasons of European aways that lead to us usually watching in frustration. If experience is the order of the day then I'd prefer Brown in at right-back - particularly as he was by far our best player against Crawley (how's that for faint praise ).

Gibson instead of Scholes + Rooney on the left = Berbatov isolated?? Hopefully Nani stays fit for the next few weeks, we're probably relying on him more now than we ever relied on Ronaldo tbh; the rest of the squad isn't what it was in 2008 but should still be enough. Right?

Agree about Brown....when he's fit and 'on it' I'd have him at centre half as well. I think he's gone for Gibsons 'legs' more than anything over scholes. Ground is 'buzzin' like. I'll still take a boring 1-0 (to us )

When the highlight of the match is sniggering at Fanni's name then it really shows how boring its been!

Oh, and how bad is that Keeper's top?! OH reckons he looks like he should be playing golf wearing it!

...a half decent United team would have destroyed this froggie outfit by now...hope we don't regret it at OT!

...but really, Gibson, Carrick & Fletcher...just an awful selection, all as crap as each other!!!

After the first 5 minutes I thought we were in for a cracker, then it seemed to implode in on itself. Gibson made one or two nice passes but then went back to his old falling over/clumsy tackling mindset. Poor passing all round, barely saw Rooney and Berbatov, but I guess that isn't their fault.
Props to the defenders though for basically defending non-stop for the last 45 minutes, Smalling was great again.

I wish Giggs, Park and Valencia would hurry up and come back, the midfield is so boring at the moment...
