Clattenberg tied the FA's hands. He gave the free kick so would never say he didn't see the incident in his report. He has had to fudge the report to say what he saw was a 'coming together'.

Is there any chance there is something bubbling under in Roon's private life that is making him act like more of a **** than normal?

He is probably getting transferred in the summer.

Perhaps. I just don't think his heart is in United anymore to be honest. The annoying thing is, even though he's scored the least goals out of the three main forwards, he's still constantly first choice in Fergie's eyes.
Question is how much can we get for him? If an equally poor (and injury prone) Torres is worth £50 million, surely we could get more for Rooney!

But a part of me thinks we should just keep him, at least while the Glazers are here. After all, where did all that money we got for Ronaldo go? Apart from Valencia and Smalling, what have we got to show for it? Pub team players like Bebe, Obertan and Diouf who will hopefully all be sold on in the summer.

******* rules getting in the way all the time.

Sir Alan 'FA' Hansen of the BBC assured us all that he was in BIIIIIIIIIIIIIG trouble so what's going on?

First the 'quadruple chasing, possibly going to dominate english football for the next few years' Arse get beat, the Mickeys looking iffy for Europe and Mr Ferguson won't speak to them again...EVER

It's just not on I tell you....simple as....

I expect rather than having a deal lined up for him already, Fergie convinced him to sign a new contract and "see how he feels" in the summer with regards to leaving. Fergie doesn't want him to leave, so he won't bench him because all it'll do is make his mind up that his future lies elsewhere.

Cant see it myself. We need a keeper, a midfielder and possibly a left winger, so I cant see SAF binning Rooney as it would be too much of an upheaval.

I think he'll stick around for a year - maybe two and then we can get rid.

Last year I got a lot of flack for saying what I'm about to repeat. Note what I said came true, however. As a striker Rooney is Hit & Miss. He can go a while without scoring & go another time & do it for laughs BUT he still remains a very good all round player. At the moment his goals are far & few between & even his control of the ball & passing can be suspect, but his all round play over a whole match is better than most & he can change a match around. I still want him out in the summer & concentrate on a top class midfielder plus whatever else we will need then.

...his energy rate is fine but the quality of his general play is pants at the moment. What with Berbatov's indifferent form and Roon's moronic side beginning to bubble over, I find myself starting to put all my eggs in Hernandez's basket...at least he's bleedin' happy when he scores!!

...I have to admit to jumping out of my seat and punching the air when Birmingham scored their winner on sunday...is it right to get so much joy when your fiercest rivals are suffering heartbreak??

Listening to Hansen's comments on MOTD in light of Rooney being 'let off' is very, very amusing.

I saw the incident on SSN earlier and can't believe Rooney's getting away with what amounts to a cowardly assault on the Wigan player.

The ref gave the freekick for the 'assault'. So if you want to introduce retrospective decisions across football and ruin any credibilty referees have got left in the process then fine, otherwise you have to abide by his original decision.

I found it hilarious too. Mainly because I can vividly remember the Arsenal fans on the BBC 606 forums last season saying how they are too good to bother with the 'Mickey Mouse Cup'.
But then when they get to the final it actually means something. The fans at the end looking forlorn & sad was absolute bliss!

I'm gathering they just showed the close-up slow motion shot of Rooney elbowing right? It's funny how they always seem to leave off the 'victim' stopping mid run and attempting to stand to the left in order to barge Rooney.
It doesn't even compare to Gerrards steamtrain elbow... but was there any sort of s***storm about th at?

And Drogbs's running with both elbows very high, back & forward in order to catch the face of his opponent, which he did & I'm sure he got nothing for it. This happened in the last couple of weeks.

Rooney has been lucky that his indescretion has been overshadowed by the uproar in the media over Gary Caldwell's challenge on Patrice Evra. Had it been a quiet weekend then I'm sure MOTD, Sky, etc would have been all over it.
