Your Highness (April 2011)

I went to see a preview screening of 'Your Highness' last night (Empire Wycombe, if anyone else went), and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was.

Funny, outrageous good.

It made me think of those 80's quest-y movies like Labrynth / Legend, but was also obviously mixed with the director's other recent output, Pineapple Express and Eastbound & Down - if you think Kenny Powers is watchable, mix that with medieval swords and James Franco, and you've got a good idea of what the film was like. Definitely add it to your must-see list for next year - I think it's going to be big...

I kind of hope this gets rated 18, just to keep the kids away. I actually thought it was a family friendly film before I read the OP's post!

It's about as 18-rated as you can get - lots of OTT blood and gore, and
- I hope they don't tone any of it down for release, because the more OTT it was, the funnier it became.

I actually don't think it would do very well at the box office if it gets an 18. Lots of 15-17 males like this kind of movie.

New R-rated trailer is up on IGN:
http://www.ign.com/videos/2010/11/17...ricted-trailer

Warning: this trailer contains a LOT of the jokes from the final film, and could be considered spoiler material, if you consider "funny" to be protected under that label. I'd wait until a shorter / non-R trailer comes out and watch that to guage your interest, otherwise you'll probably be underwhelmed when you finally see it. Not that ALL the jokes are the trailer, but some of the best ones are.

Pretty funny that they have painted full pants on Portman in the restricted trailer.

I'd be surprised if this flick takes half as much as Pineapple Express, but it does look pretty damned funny.

Verdict - not ENOUGH Portman ass.

Another case of a ton of stuff from the trailer being just different takes and lines from shooting. Was waiting for loads of funny moments that never turned up. Film was ok but nothing to Pineapple or the genius of Eastbound.

Saw this last night and thought it was utter drivel. I'm a fan of David Gordon Green's earlier films - George Washington, All The Real Girls etc - so watching this was a depressing experience. I've not seen Pineapple Express but assuming it's as juvenile as this, I don't think I want to.

The only thing that stopped us from walking out was Natalie Portman, who looked simply stunning.

Bad reviews, bad box office AND they used a body double for Portman.

Son I am dissapoint.
