Total mode, but was that an XR3? I thought it was only the RS Turbos that had the bonnet vents
Do you think there are any standard XR3s left now? I'm sure it was not an RS though as it didn't have the RS bodykit, wheels or Recaro seats.

Strangely, if you look up the registration on one of those free reg check websites it shows:

MERCEDES CVS MERCEDES 410P CHAS CAB

Recognised loads of places from this episode because I lived in West Brom and my best mate, originally from Stoke, now lives near Shirley. I only live about a five minute walk from the old Jensen factory. It's pretty sad to see how dilapidated that whole industrial estate is.

In his youth Frank Skinner lived opposite the factory (before he was called Frank Skinner).

Wow! Right near that place which JC pointed out was Robbie Williams's house.

I've now seen all this last episode twice - and I too found it very poignant and loved the ending where all those gleaming Alpines, TRs, E-Types, Morgans etc were in the garage.

I was also struck by the number of times the boys alluded to the fact that the show is now truly international and that's presumably why they keep on doing it the same all over again and why we in the UK - their most ardent fans - are getting a bit jaded.

The current series ended last week. Clarkson said this at the end of the show.

They managed to make that more annoying than the UK version.
The frat house presenters even got the forced laughter down to a tee

"In this weeks's challenge Billy-Bob, Jed and Cletus try to negotiate a 30 degree bend whilst driving stick."

"Some say he is both his own brother and his own father. Others say that he once wrestled 200 horsepower out of a 6 litre big block engine. All we know is he's called the Stig."

Dude! Awesome!

Bring back Top Gear Australia. At least that had Utes.

yeah the big guy (rutledge wood) is a host on one of the usa nascar programmes - he's pretty good on that. they sound weird to us but i suppose they must sound to fellow yanks like jeremy et al sound to us. they have to make it for american audiences, after all... (just like they did with the office)

No, they sound like frat-house douchebags wherever you're from.

The Americans I know love our BBC Top Gear for the presenters. There's a bumbling, inoffensive immaturity about them that the US presenters don't appear to want/have.

Suprised no one's mentioned that the Stig was unmasked by the papers yesterday...

His name's been know for quite a while - this simply confirms it. Besides, the Stig is a way of hiding the fact that supercar manufacturers supply their own drivers.

Blimey - that appears to be a lot more serious than the Toyota 'carpet' issue a while back yet that's the first I've heard of it.
