There is now an Arrow Special Edition DVD, with the film in its original aspect ratio of 1.66:1, 16:9 enhanced, and with director's commentary and other extras. In the commentary on the "Additional Footage" extra (these are alternative takes, not deleted scenes), Andrew Birkin states there was never an extended director's cut: the only version made was the theatrical version, which is the version we get on the Arrow DVD.

For the record, the "Additional Footage" on the Arrow SE DVD consists of:

1. original version of the "dinner scene," featuring Hanns Zischler's undubbed voice (1m 24s)
2. two alternate takes of the "rockery scene," one in colour, one in B & W (3m 51s)
3. four alternate takes of Charlotte Gainsbourg in close-up (3m 16s)
4. all the takes for a 2 minute scene between Charlotte Gainsbourg and Andrew Robertson at the kitchen table (20m 12s)
5. alternate version of the "rain scene," cut to music by Wagner (2m 08s)
6. alternate version of the love scene between Charlotte Gainsbourg and Andrew Robertson, using music by Charles Ives ("The Unanswered Question") (2m 48s)
