Not to sound funny but anyone who says this

"I don't have previous DVD or Blu-ray releases of this film in my library to do some direct comparisons"

Well that kind of makes any review in comparison to old editions hard to take anything they say as fact.

£14.99

It's probably cheaper online, but when I saw it I had to buy it.

True, and i think my current Blu-ray is actually already quite excellent. I just kept the DVD version as well and stuff them all into a triple-play set so i have Total recall on DB along with it on DVD with a commentry and an extras disc. So i can wait a while until this is dirt cheap

£1 more online at the cheapest place that I could find. I'll wait for it to drop I think.

Gah! Region locked anyway

I think the new transfer looks excellent on this! Certain scenes looks absolutely fantastic, with incredibly good detail. The colours also do seem more natural than before. It can be quite grainy at times, but I'd rather that than watch Total Wax Recall Reminds me of the recent Aliens restoration, although perhaps not quite as good as that.

I got the Steelbook edition which is quite nice but it's a tad disappointing to me having quite a dull matte finish. I don't really see what the big deal is about collecting them. I think some of them are nicer than others, especially when it's superior, unique artwork and not just a rehash of the Amaray sleeve. But they scratch so easily and what do people do with the extra cardbord flappy bits? I think I'd rather the details were actually printed on the back of the Steelbook (like some are) which to many is sacrilege .

Tempted to just get the standard version now and sell my Steelbook...

It's not the most stunning steelbook and some different art from the amaray wouldn't have gone amiss but there are definitely worse out there. Personally I bung all the cardboard bits in an envelope so I can dig them out if I need to. Not that I ever do.

Not impressed with it myself. Hate the different colour timing to what I am used to watching. I want whites to be white not beige. I am happy with the old blu ray. Sure it is over sharpened but there isn't really anymore detail in the new version.
