Film 2008 Quietly Returns

So Ross was back fronting Film 2007 last night - I only caught it by accident having had no clue it was coming back and not even the BBC webpage updating to announce its arrival.

Anyone else catch it? There was a positive review for Superbad in there, as well as a bit of a look at 3:10 to Yuma and December Boys. I can't find a repeat at the moment, although maybe a helpful person could enlighten us if there is one.

Do you get the feeling that the BBC's been trying to kill this show since about...1972.

Why they don't move it to BBC2 with a decent regular time slot and a few BBC 4 repeats i don't know.

A like it more now that Shakespeare is presenting it.

Who actually cares what Jonathan Ross, or his writer, thinks of films anyway?

I much prefer Talking Pictures - but BBC treat it appallingly

used to catch it at weekends on BBC2, but I believe it's now only on News 24

don't think it's even available on their crappy iPlayer

Tom Brook rocks

Talking Movies is very good, I like Tom Brook a lot. Shame they changed the theme music though, the old music was much better.

I liked the clip from the crumping(?) film they used for about 6 months straight as the end credits.

Talking Movies I caught on bbc2 last 2 weeks, it was on a weeknight late around midnightish, one week it was on a tuesday the other a wednesday, something like that. 00.10 tuesday 4th spetmeber according to digiguide. You think that something like that which must be popular enoguh with the amount of movie buffs there are, would be given a decent timeslot, as I thought the BBC are meantto respect minority interests. Obviously we don't count!

Pff! S'not Shakespeare!

Obviously, being a fan of comics, he's modelled his beard on the Guy Fawkes mask from V For Vendetta.

Film 2007 seems to have followed the Talking Movies route of using very low quality clips and trailers that look as if they've been downloaded from youtube

Only stupid Joe Publics who think what he says is FACT Just like when they read reviews in The Sun, public sucks.

His taste in filsm is cack, the show should be took of the air. The amount of mistakes he makes in his so called reviews is a joke, they need to get a researcher

His tastes are incredibly good for a mainstream reviewer*. He's certainly the only reviewer to take genre movies serious. His 'incredibly strange picture show' documentary's he did years ago for channel 4 are the best film series ever shown.

So to suggest that he dose'nt know what he's doing would be very very wrong.

*He lets himself down by liking Adam Sandler movies but no ones perfect.

Not really, his researchers obviously did a good job in the old days so many mistakes on a BIG show like Film 2007 show me he does not know as much as he trys to make out he does.

Incredibly strange picture show and other shows he has done does not exactly mean he knows what he is talking about, he is a presenter, a presenter does not have to know anything about the show they present.

But He obviously knows a fair bit about certain things, but also talks a loads of cobblers and trys to make himself come off as an expert, when obviously he isnt. The older he gets the less he seems to know and the more confused he seems to be.

I think his tastes in films are dire myself a lot of the time, but if others like what he does then good for them.

The way he splashes praise on certain films and genres is not for me, and the way he blags his way thru many things makes me sick, as many films he has never even seen and goes and admits elsewhere he has not seen them. Like on his Interview shows when he talks about a film, or interviews a person from a film and he has not even seen the film in question (new films or old).

But hey the shows awful I am stunned its still showing after all these years we all are ruined by the net I guess

One of the things that put me off Jonathon Ross a bit was his quite nasty review of Clerks 2, he didn't like the film that's fair enough but it was more of an over the top personal attack on Kevin Smith than an actual review which I thought was quite uncalled for.

Thats one thing he does a lot, gets really nasty with some films and film makers and cast members (some probibly deserve it mind you) but once in a while I have sat there thinking is he for real!? has he even seen the film at all?

You have to remember who his brother is, Paul Woss, need I say more
Paul admits he does not watch all the films he reviews he gets paid to review them I assume Jonathan is much the same nowadays.
