I thought Moon and An Education were both excellent films. Only one had a robot and space buggies though so Moon should take it I guess

Good luck to you anyway Huron, will be watching with interest.

(Agree about Sam btw, exceptional performance that gets stronger everytime I rewatch the film)

Alex I don't mean to pry and understand if you don't want to answer this, but with the promising blu-ray and regular dvd sales, has Moon began to be a money maker for you and all concerned?

I'd love to have seen a nomination for Sam Rockwell, as you'll never convince me there was a better performance by an actor this year, let alone 5 of them, but overall feeling pretty happy

Alex
I'm with you on that, i'm also suprised there wasn't at least a nomination for Sam Rockwell

Not sure how Moon can beat An Education, seeing as that film has also been nominated in the Best Film category, therefore suggesting it is the best of the Britsh Films?

It's all heading in the right direction, but we still need to shift a lot more copies (Go USA Go!) to repay all the investors and even begin to make any money ourselves. Exhibitors, distributors, sales agents, prints and advertising costs etc all take huge slices of the pie before it gets anywhere near us.

Let's put it this way, there's easier ways to make a living

I'd say it doesn't matter, that it's an honour just to have been nominated, but everyone would know I'm lying

Seriously, though, it's hard to know. Clearly more people voted for An Education for Best Film in the second round than voted for Moon. But what about all the people who backed Avatar. Are they more likely to vote for us or An Education in the Best British Film category? Then again, I've heard it might even be a committee that picks Best British Film, in which case it's anyone's guess how it might go.

Did you know the BBC used Moon's theme in last weeks Top Gear. It was when the Hamster was driving the Lexus sports car.
Watch from 8 mins in (near the end)

IIRC Slumdog Millionaire won best picture last year, but failed to win best British film, so it's difficult to predict how these things will go.

No Oscar nomination for Sam Rockwell. What does that guy have to do to get noticed

Still, Moon has now sold over 100,000 copies in the UK, which is fantastic news. I'm sure the DVD Forums are resposible for a big chunk of that

If you haven't picked it up yet, a bunch of places now have Moon on DVD for £6.99 which I think is a bargain. The BR can also be picked up for about £12.99 a couple of places.

Spooksta, no I didn't know about that, so it was fun to see. You know you've hit the big time when your soundtrack features on the decade's best TV series

BAFTAs tonight. Got my tux ready to go. Just need to go on youtube to find out how to tie the bow tie

Not confident on winning Best British Film. Think Best Film will go to Avatar, so they'll probably give Best British to An Education, but you never know. Am more hopeful about Best Debut for Duncan. He's coming back from shooting Source Code in Montreal for the ceremony, so hopefully he'll get to deliver a speech.

Whatever happens, should be a fun night.

Best

Alex

Best of luck. Moon got a mention on the news this morning with one guest reviewer (cant remember who, think she was American) wondering why it wasnt up for more awards.

Would I like this?

I hated Sunshine and had to watch 2001 in multiple sittings because I found it so dull. This seems very much in the same vein.

No, its different to both of those. It's very low key and subtle. Try not to read anything about it before you see it.

Cheers. I've only read the IMDb synopsis, which made it sound like a cure for insomnia.

Best of luck Huron. Would be great to see the film and people connected with it get some sort of recognition as its a brilliant piece of cinema.
