Thumbs up Underbelly. New Aussie crime show on FX tv

Starts tonight 10pm on the FX channel. Based on real events that took place in Melbourne 1995 to 2004 with a gangland war between crime families.

looks like it will be must see tv.

watched the first episode yesterday, and pretty impressed

has that sort of 'cheapo-ITV 9pm drama' look to it, but once you get past that, was very entertaining

will definitely be sticking with it - but not the sort of thing the wife would enjoy methinks

I think this is really good. Well into the show now and it gets better with each episode.

Yet another great TV show being criminaly ignored and should actually be seen by a much larger audience.

Love it

Thumbs up

this IS a must see. I followed the tv version of this when it was shown and loved it. Sunsequently went out and bought the uncut dvd box set. There's no hollywood gloss with this series. It's aussie drama at it's very best. Enjoy.

They banned it in Victoria after four episodes I think due to a court order. When we went over there people were a bit peeved because it had had massive publicity too.

Am 4 episodes into this after a strong recommendation from a friend and it's *really* good. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new show to watch! Can't believe there are so few posts on the thread here. Watched Dollhouse recently and that thread is a million pages long depite general consensus being pretty much 'meh'!

First season was very good (as was Satisfaction which shared a few of the same actors and was also an HBO/Showtime type aussie production) but I haven't caught any of the 2nd season thus far, was put off by the 70's look of it, it's a prequel-style thing I think - anyone seen it and can tell us if it's worth a look?

watched the first 3 eps of S2

I reckon it's just as good as S1 (I was also worried about the 70's setting, but it's fine)

I would say the second season is just as good as the first. I too was apprehensive of the 70 ‘s setting, but its takes nothing away from the show, in fact by about episode 7 I was enjoying it much more than the first season, but unfortunately it seemed to lose its way a bit in the second half of the series (it went on a month long hiatus midway through the series). Its only connection to the first season is its narrated by the woman police officer from the first season (whose mother is the main female police office in the second series.)

Although a third series has being commissioned to be shown at the end of this year set between the mid eights and early nineties, about the cleanup of police corruption in the New South Wales and Victorian police forces. It is suppose to tie the first two series together and is said to include Alphonse Gangitano (from the first series) and Mark "Chopper" Read (from the second series).

Back to the original question, yes, don’t be put off by the 70’s setting its still worth a watch.

This starts tonight at 9pm on STV.

Not sure if those outside Scotland will be able to tune in. I do know I can pick up ITV on sky channel 993 but unsure if it works the other way.

The uncut version is on at 10.35pm on Thursday though, so I probably just sky+ that one.

After seeing the bump I was hoping this might be news that season 2 was going to be on

Doesn't see to be available on sky but you can watch it on the stv website

Really enjoyed season 1 when I saw it on FX but they aren't going to be showing the second season. Hopefully STV might show season 2 as its not available on dvd here either
