Can not help but feel that reason Lucinda never made the metting was due to her hiding a couple of shirts under a matress

Think it became obvoius the season before last that the fired person is not always the worst, with the more "entertaining" people being kept on to get people talking about the show

Think back to previous seasons - many of those that made people talk about the show at work the next day should have gone in the early weeks ("great name for a team, how about the A Team")

One thing that I'm not sure we're taking into account here:

Unless I'm guessing wrong, Sir Amstad has not had the luxury (as we have) of sitting down and actually watching the TV program we have, or possibly even seeing any actual video footage.

Hence he makes his decision based on just the reports of his two sidekicks, the actual financial (if it's that kinda task) outcome, and what the actual people tell him as they are defending themselves.

Possibly, if we did not see the program either, and just had the same info that he has, then we would have a very different view of who should get fired.

It's not until you actually watch the program (like we do) that a lot of truths come out.

I'd have got rid of Jenny just from hearing her say that both of the two she brought back would be useless at any task (not her exact words, but it's really what she said). You can't have a project manager like that.

I know SAS hasn't seen the programme, but in a way that makes it worse in this case - he knew for sure that the project manager was confrontational, conflict between her and the others, and that the project was pretty much a failure. On the other hand, for mixing up the laundry, he could only speculate on who was really to blame for that - but he still got rid of someone based on it.

There's 3 possible reasons I can think of for some of his 'firings':
1) He's a fool.
2) He's looking to keep the 'entertainment' factor.
3) By keeping in a few difficult people, he can see how the others deal with them.

I'd guess no:2, by order of the BBC or the production company.

Let's face it, we all watch it for the entertainment factor, not to improve our business acumen!

You mean apart from winning the deal with the hotel that effectively won the task for them.

I think Raef got it about right - yes the footage made it look as though they were farting about a bit whilst the other boys were grafting but the bottom line is that they got as much business in they could have reasonably coped with.

Sorry - have since found out: http://www.bbc.co.uk/apprentice/docu...Apprentice.doc
They recorded the final for this years show were I work. I don't know how long in advance they had organised it but no-one in the office knew it was happening until the night before. No-one had to sign an NDA they just asked us not mention it.

And how exactly did they win that deal?

If memory serves they went in with a quote of about £500, the buyer said we normally pay £200, then the guys said OK we'll do it for that.

Staggering negotiation skills!

Don't think they can take any credit for winning that deal, they were just lucky that the other team were utterly useless.

It often seems to be the case that the team who win do so more due to misfortune of the opponents than brilliant business skills

Would be interesting if they could have a couple of team tasks early on which the result was not worked out on profit gained. Also would be much better if they could fire more than one person (although that would mess the running schedule up)

Also - did it not used to be the case that the winning team leader was safe from being fired ?

IIRC, that happens on the US version, but I don't think they've ever done it in the UK edition.

it was like that on the usa one for one or two seasons - i remember one "safe" pm gave up his immunity the following week (on losing) because he was so confident he wasn't up for firing, then trump fired him for that reason!!! hilarious! :d

i disagree, the last few seaons of the US Apprentice have been very poor. It was almost cancelled as the ratings dropped. The latest season which is a celebrity apprentice has been quite entertaining mind.

still they should show them - the prize was actually a decent one worth winning in the US case, a proper job managing a major building project - not trying to mail order flog some hair removal system

the celeb one has been ace though, loved that season. hopefully it will be same next year.

season 5 has been the best so far, imho - the one with the english chap (especially how he did his talking head bits to camera about the others). not seen the celebrity one yet.
