So it was the first season - I was absolutely horrified by the hairstyles on display. I've actually had a really good idea for a money spinner. Build a load of Crystal Maze sets around the country and run them as stag weekend/team building places. Charge £50 a head and surely you're onto a winner!

There were a couple of Crystal Maze real life attractions. One was in Blackpool as I remember doing it.

There's also quite a few (sort of) similar things popping up where you get to do challenges and be a "spy" for a few hours in a big warehouse made to look like offices, buildings etc.

Or Takeshi's Castle. As alluded to below, the problem would be the lawsuits in this nanny state

One of my goal's in life is to visit Japan just so I can go on Takeshi's Castle. It looks like immense fun. I wonder if they have a huge waiting list to get on the show.

I'd imagine they did when they stopped making it in the late 80's

Sorry for shattering your dreams

Now all we need is for FTN to start showing Gladiators and my game show fix will be complete!

When Crystal Maze was on Challenge I watched it on my Sky+ with the additonal audio description commentary. Don't know if you can do this on FTN, but it makes the program even better.
As well as a description of what's happening the commentary rips into the contestants and how rubbish they are at the games. Examples:

"He's moving as quickly as a slow thing...in reverse...with all the brakes on!"

From the show "I'm not going to do this" Immediately followed by on the commentary "No you're not"

Genius!

Wow - today's lot were absolutely useless. I loved the guy in the rat-maze who reached the crystal and just left it there... Kudos for the several occurances of swearing too. I'd always thought there'd be more of that in the show.

no more dangerous than letting people run around with paintball guns surely?

I never knew about Audio commentary when Challenge showed this??Do they still do it, as I think its still being shown on Challenge, and how do you activate the commentary if so???

Also someone mentioned above the Krypton Factor being shown again, that would be cool to watch that again, It did get a few runs on Challenge, but not anymore, ahhhh those were the days of quality evening entertainment on ITV
