Falcon (maybe Saker?) or maybe a kestrel?

A Southern Right Whale frolicking in the sea in False Bay. Colour could've been better had it not been late in the day, overcast and raining

That whale could do with a de-barnacleing treatment

Is the last of Highlanders possibly a kookaburra?

Nice (again!) - I really like the "short runway" shot!

I was looking at your EXIF and you've got cracking light there for f/8 - 1/800!!
I need to move

Thanks for attemping the ID, but I'm told the last one is a night heron. EDIT: Apparently it's a boat-billed heron.
I think I'm going for eagle owl for the first, because of the orange eyes. Do any other owls have orange eyes?

ifijay - brilliant shots. Really like birds in flight shots, and that darter one (no.2) is the pick for me.

Not sure how 'prestigous' this is, but I've just been chosen for feature of the day on the 'Animal Planet' group on Flickr, with this, a picture of a mongoose...

Went out today with my new Canon 350d, only to find my hopes of any wildlife to be dashed by parts of the wood being chopped down and the meadow usually awash with bugs/birds is no longer fallow

Take a look at the photo of a bird of prey referenced on the flickr blog today. Amazing. Not for the faint hearted when it comes to fluffy animals.
