This Life + 10

From mediaguardian.co.uk:

BBC to revisit This Life, 10 years on

Jason Deans, broadcasting editor
Monday July 4, 2005

The BBC is hoping to bring back This Life, the era-defining mid-90s drama about the tempestuous personal lives of a group of young lawyers, for a one-off 10th anniversary special.
The corporation is talking to the creator, producer and cast of the cult BBC2 drama series about a new show looking at where the main characters have got to, a decade on.

Over two series and 32 episodes in 1996 and 1997, BBC2 viewers became hooked on the antics of Anna, Miles, Milly, Egg and Warren, who shared a house in London's Borough district.

Sex, drugs and booze featured heavily, and the show's memorable final episode featured a brawl on the dance floor between Milly and her nemesis Rachel at Miles' wedding - which was not to Anna, the woman he was actually in love with.

This Life stars including Jack Davenport, Andrew Lincoln, Daniela Nardini and Amita Dhiri were relative unknowns when the show first aired in 1996, but have all gone on to bigger and better things.

The spokeswoman said the BBC was talking to the original cast, as well as This Life creator Amy Jenkins and Tony Garnett, whose independent production company, World Productions, made the show.

"There's a possibility that we will do a 10th anniversary special. We are looking at how we might celebrate the anniversary next year. There definitely won't be another series - it would be a one-off.

"It was such a seminal series and so popular. What might you do to mark the 10th anniversary? Well the obvious thing is to look at where they are now," she said.

Teachers, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Talented Mr Ripley to name a few!

Maybe this anniversary special will persuade the BBC to release the whole series on dvd?!

It seems strange they are planning a special when they didn't even release both series' on DVD, but here's hoping!

Also someone tell them to release series 2 of Manchild, it just doesn't make sense to release one and not the other!

thought they had issues with the dvd due to the amount of songs they needed permiss to have on it

Think it would be okay, but 10 years later? bit contrieved. We'd want them all to be the same, and it couldn't really be.

big mistake, if you ask me...nothing you can do to improve on the end of series 2 so why bother...?

but i really hope they release S2 on DVD after all this time, though...

But didn't they release Series 2 on video? Unless there are music edits on that.

My boxset arrived yesterday. A very quick look at it seems to indicate that Series 1 is the same as the old release (ie 5 episodes on a disc!). No extras
