Farscape DVDs - whats the deal??

Watched a few episodes of this program and thought i would have a look at the dvds available.

I did a quick search on here and am totally baffled by all the different versions you can get. Region 4 seems the cheapest but apparantly the picture quality is bad.

Region 2 has complete boxsets which seem pretty expensive, then there is the individual volume releases. Im sure i have seen some deluxe versions as well!!

I see region 1 has a similar format as R2 but is now releasing these Starburst editions. Is there definitely 3 of these to each season, as they would work out the best value then especially with the current prices at dvdsoon. But they have only released 2 of these so far, so has there been an announcement on the other 10?

Any help would be extremely appreciated.

Cheapest is the Starburst R1 dvds, which I may get myself, same as full season sets, but no snazzy box.

But if your into packaging get the full season sets either R1 or R2 both seem fine and look snazzy, but cost a lot.

Then theres the R2 full Entire show set with all seasons in one massive box, costs about 200 quid! scary!

The R2 season boxsets seem very expensive. Amazon have the first two seasons for about £45-46 each at the moment. Whether that's a good deal or not I'm not sure because I'm baffled by the different releases. I've never been able to get into Farscape on TV but I'm considering buying them on DVD.

Lots of info about the different releases on this thread: http://www.thedvdforums.com/forums/s...light=farscape

The R2 Complete Sets are the way to go until someone can confirm whether the new R1 starburst cheapies share the crappy R1 picture quality of the previous US releases (it is a PAL show after all).

That's the one, or at least, that's the one we all assume is PK Wars...

BTW RomerojpgX, I don't believe this was ever available for $6.66, as I would have definitely ordered it at that price, and I don't remember anyone mentioning it at the time.

Have read throughall 4 pages and have to ask, am I the only person who bought the 2 Disc Volumes of all 4 Seasons as they were released?

As for the Mini-Series, I will be getting the R2 release due to the bonus extra features the UK release is getting.

On Sky one next weekend I believe, as there was an advert on lunchtime today.

Just as I bought the DVD's too. Oh well, I'll watch it a lot more than once, so not money wasted.

I posted this on the Bargain Forum, and thought it might be worth mentioning here...

The third (and final for season one) Starburst edition of Farscape is available for the bargain price of $15.98 ($13.74 discounted, that's about £6.10).

The complete first season can be had for around £22.

The previous R1 releases really did look quite bad.

I now have the first two Starburst releases, and will be watching them soon. I'll post my thoughts on the quality on here, but I'm not really that good at determining whether or not the picture is any good.

R1 PKW is much cheaper, so if you not interested in extras.
even the high price sites like playusa have this at £8.99

R2 is £16.99 from play (last time i checked)

Forgot to post last night, but i watched the pilot on the 1st Starburst edition yesterday. Whilst i dont have a reference quality set up i was more than happy with the picture quality.

The only gripe was that only 1 side of each disc was labelled, not a major issue but just something i feel was a silly omission.

I have both parts 1 and 2 for S1 and have just ordered part 3. The picture quality looks pretty good to me. I'm up to ep 4 and the picture is looking very nice indeed.

I can do some screen caps in power DVD if you like.
