Question best version of ATOC? region 1(ntsc), region 2(cut), or region 4(edge enhancement)

As header. Which is the best version of ATOC? Does anybody know which has the best picture out of region 1 and region 4? Michael DVD is unsure. Region 4 although PAL has edge enhancement issues, whilst region 1 is ntsc.

Thanks

Region 2 actually has the best picture quality, if you don't mind the 1 second cut that is.

There are claims that there are more cuts than just the 1 second cut, and the jury's still out on any image differences between R2 and R4.

I'm unsure myself which version of this to get. I could probably live with a 1 second cut, but I'm not prepared to put up with rubbish picture quality. I've recently seen the R2 playing on a demo all-in-one system in the local Currys ( I know!). Even after I adjusted the TV and DVD player which were both badly set up (The player and the widescreen tv were both set to 4.3 would you believe - yes I'm a but there you go), the picture still looked lacking. The TV was a Sony and the player a Pioneer so it should have looked pretty good. Thing is - it didn't!

Having watched both the R1 and the R2, I can honestly say that I prefer the R1, simply because there's less shimmering over fine detail. It's something that I've noticed a lot when doing A-B comparisons of the same movie on NTSC and PAL dvds. PAL may well be sharper, but it comes at the expense of more prominent shimmering over stuff like window blinds. And I didn't notice any other differences in the two versions of AOTC- except the headbutt, of course.

I have the R1 version and i really dont see any problem with the pic quality at all, the only way you're gonna notice it i would think is if you compared them side by side, im impressped with the quality as it is, and i can't stand cuts so there was never a question of which region to get

I emailed the BBFC and they said that the only cut was the headbutt one so looks like the other info was erroneous.

Just get one of the continental R2's instead!

Dutch/german/scandinavian etc. They are PAL and are all uncut.
