Just a thought how did Walternate cross over from and back to the other universe? I didn't think they had to tech to do so, hence the need for the shape shifters?
Was hoping with it not being shown last week, we would have a finale double bill.
I don't think it is a double bill. I think it's just part one tomorrow and part two next Tuesday (8th). At least that's what my planner is showing, I definitely hope it's actually a double bill!

Late again to the party with watching the last two episodes, they were hit and miss with some really tantalisingly vague comments thrown about here and there:

When Bell saw Peter he said he's looking well considering - and he wasn't talking about the transdimensional travel. It seems something there's more to Bell, Nina and Peter's backstory than we first imagine; could Peter be their biological son? If not I think at the very least Bell experimented on him and created that weapon using his DNA or something along those lines.

Written on a blackboard in the alt!Lab was the phrase 'A demon's twist rusts' and the glyphs translate to 'Weiss'. You can then rearrange the phrase into 'Don't trust Sam Weiss'.
I never knew about the glyphs! Cool idea and that message is really interesting as Sam has already told Olivia that he is "older and taller than I look". Could Sam Weiss actually be the alternate (or even our) William Bell? Ever since Leonard Nimoy mentioned his retirement I've been waiting for the show to come up with a way to keep Bell in the series with another actor in the part, perhaps that has happened sooner than we thought?

To be fair that comment to me sounds more about his character than specifically him.

Its called the BAG-L325!
It's quality. You can well imagine it hangin about with R2-D2. And when the fan is switched on it looks like it's scanning for life-forms like R2-D2 does on the ice world of Hoth when Luke Skywalker goes missing. Quality in moton. The other day it disappeared. I said, "where's the bag-l gone? have the jawas come to pick it up in the sandcrawler?" to which one of the girls in the office replied, "No, Les the porter!" —Captainchode
they needed Olivia to open the gate back to our universe, but it still seemed to work with alternate Olivia in her place. AltOlivia wouldn't have had all of the tests performed on her in her childhood (as Walter and Bill were never partners) so it shouldn't have worked.
A plot hole or something I missed?

Bell took over the operation completely, rendering the need for Olivia totally redundant
Great, great season - halfway through the first season I couldn't have imagined that they'd be getting anywhere near this standard.
Thought the final ep was very enjoyable, particularly whenever Nimoy was on screen, but a little hit and miss plot wise (and as mentioned, the final switch could be seen a mile off, but the final shot was nicely menacing).
Have to say, the alt Dunham is a major bonus - way better than the original from our universe
Anyone else reminded of Star Trek II towards the end of the final ep when Bell was describing what might (did?) happen to him when he acted as the power source for the gateway?
Finally caught up with this and enjoyed the finale.
The opening credits have lots of words naming fringe-science phenomena. In the red-coloured opening for the finale episodes, the words FIRST PEOPLE are visible instead of PARALLEL UNIVERSES. A clue for the direction of season 3? Maybe it refers to the same thing Walter was talking about when he said that we all had powers in the past but they were taken away.
