Was about to post that Rambo 5 isn't happening then saw this article at AICN, which has evidence to the contrary.

Hope it still happens.

Rambo without Stallone? That's like making Commando without Arnie...

Thread resurrection time!

So...Sly is currently posting loads of videos of him training for Rambo 5 which goes into production very soon.

The storyline is appartently the same as posted at the beginning of this thread 9 years ago!

Despite much scoffing when it was announced, Sly defied everyones expectations with a storming entry into the franchise with 2008's film.

Can he do the same again? Is 72 pushing the age limit...even for Sly? Will it be R rated?

Rambo 4 ended perfectly with his return home and I must admit to being dubious about a 5th entry into his story.

Production has begun and Sly has been posting pics on his Instagram.

The whole 'cowboy' look has got people talking, but I'm assuming that this will be at the beginning of the movie where he is working on the family farm which he arrived at in Rambo 4.

I've got to admit that from the pics I've seen so far he hasn't got that Rambo 'look'. Is it the short hair? Is it because he's now 72?

The whole 'Mexican cartel' story doesn't excite me, but I await its release with anticipation.

Just please let it be R rated.

I thought the last one ended it on a good note and I didn't see the need for another... perhaps I was mistaken

doesn't look like daddy Rambo is in it though - shame I'd have liked to see that encounter.

Contrary to the reviews, in my opinion, this was fine.

Its not going to reinvent the wheel and the trailers show the best bits of the film pretty much in chronological order, but it was short and did what you'd expect from a Rambo film.

Didnt skimp on the violence

I liked the ending to this better than 4.

If you're a fan it's well worth a watch. Very violent and certainly doesn't out stay its welcome (90min including credits). I've since heard mainland Europe have got an extended cut with a longer opening scene.

Wonder why they did that ?

That's odd. Maybe in some countries people are put off by a short running time so they've padded it out to make it seem more appealing?

On Saturday my local cinema is showing all five in a row. I've done double features but not this many.

Good god this is truly terrible. Rambo does Taken.

It’s like they knew this was a stinker and upped the gore and deaths to horror film levels. Nothing about the film bar the title has anything to do with the character.

2/10.

Certainly more R rated Home Alone than Rambo

Would have been more fitting for him to go full on Rambo rage in mexico and taking out the scumbags.

Felt overlong even with the short run time. Had Stallone directed this I think we would have a better product. more than 2/3rd's of the movie are spent building up the victim and the badguys. We get a final 10 mins bloodbath which is not much of a payoff.

Not much of a spoiler but firing any gun in those tunnels and you'd be deaf.

CGI is poor through out watch the last few moments on the farm and the dust just stays there mid air.

Part 4 finished the series well.

Yep, end credits montage aside, it doesn't feel like it has any connection to the Rambo character at all & all the Mexican stuff sounds like it was written by Trump. I'm not surprised David Morell disowned it.

That said, I enjoyed it for what it was, especially the excessive violence of the last half hour, & the final kill was a real 'I can't believe he actually did that' moment.

Highly disappointed he didn't go back do the same thing to his niece's Mexican 'friend' though.
