You can sideload it, according to reddit, but I appreciate that's out of the comfort zone for a lot of people.

I have found most apps to be very unuser friendly when sideloaded and it seems to be a game of cat and mouse with Amazon. When I hear my Nexus player you would get it working then bam it would stop and you would have to wait for another fix.

I would go for a supported device especially as Amazon and Google are at war with each other. Or maybe a Roku of you don't use your box to stream your own ripped media.

It is bonkers, and meanwhile the Netflix app works fine, and surely they're Amazon's big rival in this area!

You would think that but Amazon are a much bigger business, they make there money form AWS and selling to consumers. Video is just a loss leader even though they are about to start spending big money on Lord of the Rings and the Wheel of Time.

That is basically the TV web view that every smart device uses if you put this into a browser it gives you the same view youtube.com/tv it works perfectly fine and I actually really like it. Its quick, functional and as all the changes are server side almost every week the user experience changes. Those running the TV app simply can't decide a uniformed look and feel.

Main reason I won't do anything Amazon video, despite being fully Amazon in home is the lack of YouTube. Don't even use it very much but having to negotiate when the kids want something YouTube only (baby shark) on the echo show/spot is enough for me

I use a firetv stick and a slightly elderly Apple TV. Netflix and Prime are much better on the FireTV and YouTube is just as usable via firefox on that as it is with the Apple TV app.

The thing that irritates me with Amazon Video is that you can't have multiple users. With Netflix you can all be users and it'll log and pause what easy person watches, but with Amazon its just one user so when one person watches something it's watched.

You mean they don't let three other people mooch off your connection? I find it annoying as well

Still think the Roku sets are the best on the market, even the cheaper ones now are pretty fast, and they seem to support all formats.

It's not just that, As much as I love Dora and Blaze and Whisper....Amazon recommending that crap to me consistently whilst hiding stuff I'd actually like to watch does my tits in

I'd also really like them to make prime filtering better rather than dump the stuff in with the stuff you have to pay extra for.

Although my amazon 4k box is mostly used for kodi anyway (which DOES still have a youtube app) which is does a great job of

Hi people

My Nvidia Shield TV remote died so I paired the remote for my Amazon Fire 4k Stick to the Shield TV to use until I get a replacement. However, since pairing it to the Shield I can no longer use it with the Fire! Gah! Now the Fire is just a static home page! Any ideas how I re-pair it?

I'd assumed it could pair to mulitple devices, but clearly not!

Thanks

IIrc you need the remote to navigate to the Fire TV settings to enable the app. Might be wrong but I remember running into this catch 22.

Nah, you don't. Pretty certain it gives a number on the screen automatically as I did it without my remote to hand

Thanks guys, I hadn't thought of that, I'll have a go when I get home tomorrow. Shake you can't seem to buy a replacement remote for the 4k stick as it would make a good replacement for the shield TV!

You definitely can... They were selling them cheap for people with the standard remote recently as I nearly bought one
