The best thing about the aux in on the play 5 is how it streams to any other player in your network.. E.g. I have two paired 5's in my lounge with a CD player plugged in. I can play a cd from that in any room with sonos so you do only need one aux in for your entire system.

Also do you think Sonos will release a newer versions of Play 1 soon? I'm quite bothered that it doesn't include Bluetooth output or the very least an AUX IN. Think I might just pick up a cheap BT speaker for now and then upgrade to Sonos when I'm ready to buy a set rather than just a single Play 1. And the API thing will take some time too.
I am under NDA, as you might imagine Sonos are working on hardware updates away from Play:1 first, since that's new.

...similarly with the play:bar, you can send the TV output anywhere in the house

Nice. A tip with the Sub.... get it out of sight. IMO it works best when tucked away somewhere.

Never needed a Boost - everything flawless using a bridge.

Not heard of the Boost before, what does it do differently? You may not need either now, I thought you can just hook it all up through your wireless network without needing a device cabled to the router now?

If you're putting together a home cinema set up you need a boost or a bridge to connect the bar to the 1s and the sub

Ah, ok, didn't know that, thanks. I have a bridge anyway as you needed one if you didn't want any speakers wired until recently.

The bridge is fine tho, for most people. They're super cheap as they were giving them away for ages.

I only just realised that you can double press the mute button on the Play 1 to skip to the next track! My wife has been moaning about that being one frustration for months!

A question to other Sonos users: which version of the mobile apps are you using? I'm on 5.3 beta, but I'm trying to confirm if you can give thumbs up/down on the older version of the apps, or if it's gone from all. You used to be able to thumbs up/down and favourite via Sonos on both Spotify and Rdio, but no longer can on either, (nor Deezer), so now it seems only Google Music lets you thumbs up or down (down moves it to the next track) from within Sonos.

Beats may, I can't remember.

Thanks.

Edit: In Deezer you can favourite a track and it adds it to your Deezer favourites.

I just installed/added my Playbar today, and use what I believe is the latest iPhone/Macbook Sonos app. I find the whole setup very easy to use and aside from complications due to sharing two music folders (one from my MBP and the other on the iMac), when one of them is not on, it all works seamlessly.

I haven't felt the need to use a bridge and my wi-fi network is fine 99% of the time, although there have been a couple of 'dips' but I would put that down to Virgin Media's service rather than the Sonos hardware...

You can't blame Virgin for local network issues!

just realised what I said there! Perhaps a bridge wouldn't hurt as already mentioned...

Is it correct that there's no HDMi input to these? My blu ray has no optical out so it seems I'm humped unless I get a new blu ray as well as the Sonos kit.

I'll have to check but the lack of HDMI just seems perverse to me.
