I read a very interesting theory on The Tower Of The Hand website, which puts forward a suggestion about the secret history of a certain character. I must say their evidence is very compelling. It's conjecture, but if it's right it's a spoiler:

Yes, that's probably the most well known rumour about the series. It seems likely to me.

Ah, is it? I've only started reading these theories since finishing AFFC.

Bloody annoyed!
Was late for a flight last night in USA but rushed passed a book store and saw Dancing With Dragons in hardback out there.....wish I had stopped to pick a copy now.

Perhaps you're mistaking 'Dancing with Dragons' with the SoiaF book 'A Dance with Dragons'. There seems to be a few books with the title Dancing with Dragons, one of which is a book about dragons, another is a compilation of sci-fi stories.

A Dance with Dragons is still yet to be released, so don't worry, you didn't miss out by not picking up a copy.

It had "George RR Martin" as the author. It was a hardback book. Given that I didn't even know the title of the next book I must obviously have been hallucinating...

Looks like an Autumn 2008 release for the US and a bit earlier for the UK

Does anybody buy these in hardcover?

Just received Clash of Kings and the book is huge! It is a Book Club Edition, I was expecting these to be reduced size.

I have got the book club hardback editions of 1 and 3 and I would say they are quite small. I have got the full size versions of 2 and 4, now they are big! Plus my copy of 4 is signed

What I really want is to get the illustrated hardback editions, but they cost literally hundreds.

I will definitely be resisting the urge. For a start, I cannot be arsed to read 4 intricately plotted books just to read a fifth and then have to do the same thing again for book 6 and 7, and secondly, after Jordan's death I'm not going to invest a whole load of time in a series again until it has actually been completed. I love ASoIaF, possibly more than any other fantasy series I've read, but I can't justify spending the time on the series until it's complete - especially with books 6 and 7 likely to take the best part of 5-10 years to finish, if his current trend is anything to go by.
