Rambo: First Blood Part II

Thought I'd watch this on bluray the other night as haven't seen it since I last watched it on VHS and glad I did as it is my fav Rambo film.

The first one just didn't have as much action in it whilst the third one was good but still not as gung ho as this one.

Having not see this for ages, was nice to see what made this a classic for me with him putting on the red bandana on and the slow mo shot of him running in the valley from the helicopter.

This was Stallone at his best in the role and at the prime of his physical attributes as his body was more cut up in this film than in any I have seen in him...definitely more than the Rockys or Over The Top or Cobra etc.

Reminded me a bit of Predator when they were all in the chopper heading for the jungles.

A classic movie.

My fave bit in this is when rambo is covered in mud and disguised against a hill of mud. All you can see are the eyes opening behind the poor sap before he gets his neck snapped.

Watch First Blood. It's better than The Departed in every way possible.

Watch them in order 1-4. The blu ray boxset is pretty special.

Start off with First Blood to get some history behind the character and then follow up with the rest.

Not comparing, those two happen to be next in my watch list. Just a matter of which order

They're going to be both watched this week anyway

The Departed is an excellent movie but can't be compared to Rambo II as they are two totally different films and both excellent in their own rights.

Doesn't matter which you watch first tbh.

First Blood's a dark but pretty simple movie whereas The Departed is pretty strongly layered and plotted.

I'd also agree they're both great but make your decision based on how much you need to concentrate, maybe.

Watched II again recently on Blu-ray. An enjoyable action film with a good score.

The third one was on TV a few weeks back and I was pleasently surprised when it turned out to be as enjoyable as it was when I was younger. I hadn't seen it in about 15 years.

I must watch the second again sometime, I don't even remember what it's about.

The first is a brilliant, gritty movie whereas the second and third a proper 80's action movies.

First Blood, for me, sort of bridges the gap between the subdued, gritty films of the 70's and the overblown, campy nonsense of 80's blockbusters. I'll be controversial and say unless you have fond memories of watching them in the 80's and will be revisiting, there's not much to be gained from watching 2&3 - they are quite dreadful. My opinion, of course, but I can watch 1 & 4 over and over again.

Hourses for courses indeed! I found 2 a complete snore fest, when I recently watched it and can't get past the first 20 mins of 3. I can't believe The Sun called for 2 to be banned!
