I would probably say the R1 version. I have it. I have only seen a little bit of info on the R3. I believe it has DTS but I don't know much about what extras it has. R1 has a decent amount of extras. The R3 is a CAT III rating which suggests that it is uncut, but that isn't always the case.

Does the R2 have the same extras as the R1 (2 disc set) ?

I guess we'll find out for sure, but the specs that have been listed on sites such as dvdtimes indicate that the only difference between the R1 (2 disc) & R2 is the lame 'digital copy' you get on the R1.

Semi related question... The Blu-Rays of Rambo 1-3, am i right in thinkign the UK versions are basically without extras where as the US ones are loaded with commentaries, documentaries etc from the DVD releases? But in the US there is no boxset of 1-4?

I've never seen any of the Rambo flicks (I know I know!) but I know the character, would I enjoy this movie in a proper 18 rated balls out action fest way? I saw the cannes (?) trailer a long time ago, was it representative of the final film?

Yep, absolutely. If you like Invasion USA (to the power of n) and that kinda deal, you'll like Rambo. It's insanely violent.

Rambo, HOMOEROTIC? wash your MOUTH out with carbolic soap!!

Having been forced (yes forced, along with RoadHouse and Under Seige) to watch all versions of Rambo, I'd go for the US version. More SPLATS.

By the way if you need to know anything Rambo/clint Eastwood related - ask Mr Speed as he is a freak when it comes to them (Yes a FREAK).

Especially if you've never seen First Blood, because it really is in a class far above and beyond any of the other films, both artistically and politically. It hurts me they didn't carry on with the Rambo, John J. that Kotcheff imagined, however far removed from the book he is. For my money, it's the best film Stallone's done.

Agreed.

Part 2 is fun too though. Especially the eyes in the mud scene

Oh yeah, they're fun, don't get me wrong. I've even grown to like III, although I hated it first time around. II's the worst, imo. All respect to Jack Cardiff, but I hate the way II looks - all diffused and cheap. I know this was the style of the time, but it looks foul.

I just watched my HMV steelbook of it and I noticed a few scenes were a bit... jerky, not 'beef jerky' jerky but I guess a fair bit of it looked like that as well

Anyone else spot this or am I just going
