Devs

Watching no, Watched, finished, very much a mind **** leaving more questions than answers. Amazing soundtrack, Shazamed and bought at least two of the tracks, especially the track from the start/end of episode two.

Offerman perfect as usual.

I am still on episode 2, are they showing more than 2 a week then?
It’s pretentious arty tosh but I shall keep going.

I think the whole thing is on iplayer.

Gave up halfway through episode 2. Beautifully shot, but I didn't like anyone in it & 'pretentious arty tosh' pretty much summed it up for me. Couldn't get past the awesome Nick Offerman with that hair either.

Can someone who's seen the lot spoil for me what exactly 'Devs' (or the magic code they were working on that made the guy throw up) actually was?

You shouldn’t have given up on episode two, the end was really striking

Really enjoyed the first episode - as others have said, the visuals and soundtrack are brilliant. I only just discovered they’re all on iPlayer so am planning a bit of a binge tonight after work.

I have similar feelings about this show that a lot of people do about Lucy: it's so stupidly wrong about science/philosophy that it's actually insulting. The difference is that while Lucy was tongue-in-cheek, this wants us to take everything seriously.

Some nice visuals, and the main character reminded me a lot of a friend of mine, which I thought was cool. But I couldn't get past the idiocy of the gimmick.

I was strongly reminded of an Isaac Asimov story from 1956 that describes a technology with similar effects and challenges, "The Dead Past." (He also wrote several that explore the paradoxes of prediction and determinism, perhaps most enjoyably "The Endochronic Properties of Resublimated Thiotimoline.")

Gave up ten mins before the end of episode two. I was on the fence, but Lily's comatose non-acting did me in; couldn't put up with 6 more eps of that.

As I said previously the last 5 minutes of episode 2 was bloody awesome, both audibly and visually.

Well, I don't like to leave things hanging so I followed your recommendation to finish episode 2; the music was okay and I liked the bit in the garage, but it's probably not enough to get me to spend any more time in the company of the terminally dull Lily.

I really enjoyed this.

Aside from Lily who was miscast IMO.

People moan about Lily being dull and I agree, but I have the same problem with the new batwoman (reviews seem to agree with me) and Killing Eve, but everybody else seems to love Eve, for me the screen lights up when Villanelle is on, surely they can see that, and thus dull without her (but other supporting characters are fine, her ex-boss is interesting to watch as is Villanelle's ex-handler who I'll always know as Martin!)

AH, that's an interesting comparison. I don't see Eve as dull at all! She's quite quiet and pensive as a character, but Lily was almost comatose for most of it.

Im pretty sure they were disappointed in her performance -- and prob why this is a bit of a low key release tbh because with a better person in that role they'd have a big hit.

We gave up at episode 4. We just felt it was over indulgent, irritating, navel gazing nonsense.
