France looking like being cancelled. Sounds like they plan to rush all the races at the end of the season, not sure how it'll really work with whatever restrictions are in place and also behind closed doors. But I suppose no broadcaster is planning on paying them for not showing races are they?

Interesting video showing the average number of points to races competed in if all F1 seasons were scored in 2019 format for every driver. Who’s #1? Current or old school? Only one way to find out.

Definitely some shocks in there

Kind of cements my view that Hamilton will probably end up the greatest of all time. He's going to end up with the most amount of race wins, and while I doubt he'll beat Schumacher's 7 titles, he certainly has a chance to at least equal it.

Well this season is looking like it'll be a write-off so that delays everything a bit more, he gets older etc. He's not getting any younger so it'll be interesting over the next 2-3 years.

The F1 2020 Thread

The way they are talking it sounds like we maybe only a couple of months away from a double header in Austria behind closed doors.

Personally if it was up to me I wouldn’t be restarting anytime soon as much as I want it back, a lockdown should remain for every non-essential worker and they aren’t! If we HAVE to (we don’t) restart it, it should be a British double header, as only 3 teams have to travel any distance.

As for Hamilton, he’s still fit, he’s still hungry, Mercedes continue to kill it and Ferrari continue to cock it up, even when they cheat

If anyone (humans not viruses) is going to stop him it’s Red Bull.

Got this this morning...

As promised I am writing to let you know the latest regarding the 2020 Formula 1 Pirelli British Grand Prix. I am extremely disappointed to tell you that we are unable to stage this year’s British Grand Prix in front of the fans at Silverstone. We have left this difficult decision for as long as possible, but it is abundantly clear given the current conditions in the country and the Government requirements in place now and for the foreseeable future, that a Grand Prix under normal conditions is just not going to be possible. Our obligations to protect the health and safety of everyone involved in preparing and delivering the event, our volunteer marshals and Race Makers, and of course, you, the amazing fans, means that this is the best, safest and only decision we could make.

We have consistently said that should we find ourselves in this position we will support Formula 1 as they seek to find alternative ways to enable F1 racing to take place this year. Following this weekend's news from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport we are now working with them on the viability of an event behind closed doors. Should this be possible, it will be of some small comfort for you to know that the 2020 Formula 1 Pirelli British Grand Prix will be available to watch live on Sky and Channel 4.

What about your 2020 ticket?

Nothing matters more to Silverstone and our owners, the British Racing Drivers’ Club, than taking care of our motorsport fans. Without you we wouldn’t exist – it’s as simple as that. I would like to reassure you, as my previous letter, customers who have purchased a ticket will be given the option of either transferring their booking directly to 2021 or of taking a full refund. All customers will be contacted in the next two weeks with full details, so we do ask you to please be patient with us as we work through all our bookings.

A thank you for key workers

I can also confirm that next year, we intend to give away thousands of tickets for the 2021 event to NHS and other key workers who have literally been putting their lives on the line for us all, during these challenging times. No one can be in any doubt of the huge debt of gratitude we owe to them.

Thank you for your patience, loyalty and support. We’ll be in touch again very soon.

Kind regards,
Stuart Pringle
Managing Director, Silverstone

Would think if a race can be done behind closed doors, the UK is the place to do them, are most of the teams not based here anyway?

If races are behind closed doors and no fans, might be nice to see them return to Brands Hatch and so forth.

Almost all are based here, and quite a few are based either at Silverstone or not far away.

Yeh could only think of Ferrari not being, but I'm sure they could temporarily. They seem insistent on going to Austria though.

Just read the statement from the FIA, isn't that whole thing just a pipe dream? are they really expecting to fly all over the world?

So the British Grand Prix under threat over money (both of them?)

And Sebastian Vettel to leave Ferrari at end of season

And we're not even had a race yet...

I'm not surprised Vettel is out, he claims it's not money related, but losing no1 status and a pay cut is quite a double whammy. Ferrari obviously have their eggs in the LeClerc basket and don't need Vettel, or the massive salary that came with it before. I can't see Red Bull or Mercedes wanting him, and as they are the only contenders - that's him done and dusted in F1, he'll be driving mid-pack for a short time then move on.

Even if Hamilton were to leave Mercedes, I still can't see them picking up Vettel - the car is so strong, a younger upcoming driver will do just as well. They should ditch Bottas if Lewis leaves, they only have him there as a reasonable no2 driver that won't trouble Lewis. Two new, younger drivers would be great. Ricciardo?? Not sure, but would like to see him have a shot at the title.

It’ll be Carlos, Daniel is too much like a number one driver and they have one already. Same with Lewis but if it was him George would easily take his place. Antonio hasn’t done enough, and Fernando has burnt all his bridges.

Been watching WTF1 on YouTube and they had a thought, a swap with Perez, Toto goes to Aston Martin as he has a lot of money in it and Seb joins him. I can’t see it myself as Sergio had a huge problem with Esteban when he was challenged and they collided more than anybody, Ferrari will have noted that.
