Neil Peart (Rush drummer) R.I.P.

I know it's already been posted in the "Celebrity Deaths" thread over in the general forum but it's been announced today that Neil has died after a 3 three battle with brain cancer.

Celeb deaths don't normally bother me much but as a huge fan of his music and books I'm gutted by this announcement

R.I.P. Neil and thanks for all the good times reading and listening to your work

I've read all bar one of his books over the years and one thing was evident and that he was a very private person who was never comfortable with his celebrity. He battled cancer for the last 3 and a half years and none of us knew and even his death stayed private for 3 days.

RIP Neil.

He was a classic example of a life of two parts: incredible success and recognition in his professional life, yet he suffered so much in his private life, and now he's died young.

But what a body of work Rush have left behind.

Sad news indeed, had no idea he was ill.
Great legacy!

Several of his audio books are free on Audible until 28th (5 or 6 I think)

Thanks for the heads up. Over the last 12 months I've used about five of my monthly credits buying them, at least I can get the last one "Far and Wide".

As they are currently free it's probably a mute point but the "Far and" series are quite annoying as audio books because they do not come with a PDF of photos. Normally this isn't an issue but these do contain a lot of images and Neil comments on them quite a bit during the book.

Even if you're not a big fan of Rush they all make an interesting read/listen.

One of the best tributes I've read was from one of his friends Doane Perry (ex-Jethro Tull).
