Heard that too (also heard he fell out with them?) The thing is George can tell someone the ending but does mean they will do it justice and craming into 6 eps will never go well

I wonder if the ending took them by surprise in some way? Were they hoping for 10 series

The spin off setup was a bit clunky.

That said, I’m looking forward to:

The Wild Adventures of Drogon

The Compass Needle - feat. Arya’s violent cartography in Easteros

You Know Nothing - Jon And Tormund rip up the Wildling culture and embark on a series of educational sessions including haberdashery, sailing and coin minting.

Also Varys plot last ep, was writing to someone but that never went anywhere, same with Ayra's faces (that was forgotten about)

Put me in the "bang average" camp having enjoyed the last couple of episodes more than a lot of people seemed too. But I totally get that they had left themselves with an impossible task.

Having been with this from the start, it makes me appreciate just how good some other series have been from the start to the end, with only minor mis-steps along the way - its such a difficult thing to maintain over the length of a run and presumably with all the pressures from studio networks and everyone involved.

Anyway, here's to the spin-offs (Arya the Explorer and Its Grim Up North).

Will be interesting to give it a re-watch from the start in a few months time.

Has anyone told Tormund that Brienne’s available again?

A satisfying ending for me; just a bit of a shame we got there a bit too quickly. Some good symmetry with season 1 in how everyone ended up.

I wish you'd put that in spoiler quotes! Your post showed up on the front page of my Tapatalk app so I kind of then knew which way it was going as we just watched it!

I was expecting a far edgier ending. Not this love-in.

Liked the pace of it up to The ruler election scene . Which spoiled the whole episode . Seemed just wrong and badly written. Was always going to be a tough task ending it perfectly but somehow can’t help but think they could have done better.

I agree with the misgivings about certain elements being rushed to get to the end. It does feel that two more episodes would have really helped with some character arcs and put some meat to the bones. However, I found the end more than satisfying.

I hoped for a tougher ending, but knowing G.R.R.Martin’s love for Tolkien it was fitting, and seemed mostly right.
Although I did hope the last shot would be Drogon laying Dany in some square in front of Quaithe for possible resurrection like Jon.

Judging by a lot of the comments I've seen online elsewhere there are a huge amount of people who have watched GoT for 10 years and clearly not understood any of it.

I thought it was as well, I thought there would be a bit more division with it though. I'd be like, "hang on how come all his family get a vote?"

Good, sensible analysis from VOX -

How Game of Thrones did Daenerys wrong - sums up the penultimate episode for me.

5 winners and 9 losers from Game of Thrones’ series finale - good roundup, despite the clickbaity title.
